Le Relais Saint-Michel
Ranked #7 of 16 Hotels in Mont-Saint-Michel
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We spent one night and also didn't want to leave. Our room, on the first floor had a breathtaking view of the Mont St Michel. Sitting on the balcony enjoying a warm summer day, away from the crowds of the Mont itself, was inspiring.
The room price, however, was the most we paid for a single night during a month long trip in France, including Paris!
The hotel seems to cater to bus tour operators and the kitchen's offerings reflect this. The food is good and the prices are higher than Paris.
The staff are very friendly and informative.
Make sure to follow the instructions you receive with your room reservation confirmation about obtaining an access code to the restricted parking area prior to arrival. Otherwise, you (and your baggage) will have a long transit from the general parking area.

I have to say that we were very unhappy with our stay atthishotel. I am ok with paying a higher price when worth it but when the value deviates this much forget it book somewhere else.

To begin with we had two seperate rooms 3 kids in one (two teens) and under 10. The rooms cost the equivalent of $500 for one night for both. Whatbthey don t tell youisthey don t have a/c in the rooms. That can be ok if they had windows that opened which they do not. The rooms were so hot that the only way to have any ofrm of circulation was to open the patio door for the room. Just so you know this caused about 40 + flies to immediately come in the room. In addition to the 30+ flies that were already in the room when we checked in since the hotel had left the patio door open before.

You can t fall asleep with the door open since people can walk from one patio to the next which leaves you and the kids exposed to theft or worse.

The fan we were given did not work at all. Some employees on the main leave said that "you can leave your comments on the survey form".

She was completely not helpful. She said the building is old thats how it is.

So what was good about it the breakfast was great but it shouldbe it costs 28 euros each. The breakfast waiter that served us was very good. Wish the rest of the staff was so strong on service. Of course the view is spectacular of mont st michel. But next time i may just go for a drink on the patio versus anything more.

Room Tip: Dont stay here ... Is that a good tip? Strange when a number of locals found out we were staying th...

Complete waste of money ,so expensive, this is not a four star hotel
The view was good but avoid this strange embarkation area where you catch the bus to visit mont st Michel
This hotel is over priced and caters to the Japanese tourists( 90 % of the guests)
Our room cost almost $500 dollars and yes it had an amazing view of the Mont but our balcony was a concrete wasteland with weeds growing everywhere, there was mold on the shower tiles
The furniture was 70's brown depressing
The Marriot Courtyard in Waterbury Ct has more charm and comfort
No air conditioning and the wi fi was broken
The staff however were very nice

Room Tip: Please don't waste your money and stay here

My boyfriend and I were traveling throughout France and wanted to stay somewhere close to Mont Saint Michel but not on the island. This hotel offered the best of what we were looking for, as we stayed in a duplex suite with floor-to-ceiling windows with a beautiful view. The staff was very friendly and our room was very big and comfortable. The shuttle buses are very accessible and we really enjoyed our comfortable and convenient stay. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor are the best.

We arrived at Le Relais on July 9, 2013 while all of Le Mont St Michel was preparing for the Tour de France to pass through the next day. Since Le Relais is the last hotel before the causeway it was a little tricky to get there because of areas being closed off however, the people I talked to via telephone were great with English and let us know where to park. There is a free shuttle from the various parking places to get to the hotels. I do not think it is necessary to use it on a normal vacation day but the road in was closed due to the Tour. Regardless, the hotel is great, large room, perfect view from our balcony of the monastery. The food in the restaurant was amazing fresh and adequate portions, not too large or small. The service aimed to please. Loved it and would recommend to friends. I will return!!!

Room Tip: do not forget about the shuttles to hotels and monastery. Also there is a nearby supermarche if you...

The front desk was very welcoming, offering us a coffee as we waited for our room to be ready. Our room was a two-story loft with a balcony and a wonderful view of Mont St. Michel. The bathrooms (one with the toilet, the other with bath and sink) were large and clean. The beds were two twins pushed together, not as comfortable as a king or queen, but fine. The restaurant was not up to the standard of our room--the steak was overcooked and tough, and the service was slow and not particularly engaged. The location of the hotel is excellent for visiting Mont St. Michel.

It has wonderful views of Mont St. Michel but the rooms on the first floor were musty, the linens were rough and the staff at breakfast (one woman) was rude at best. There were so many people at breakfast it felt like a college cafeteria. Would not stay there again.
