I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel and town. It did not come up on any of my searches for good locations/ hotels to visit Dday beaches from but we stumbled on it two days before we went and it exceeded expectation. The hotel is not luxurious at all but it was less expensive or comparable to apartments that we looked into and yet it delivered much more. We needed the two rooms and kitchenette for our young family and it met our needs. In addition, it had laundry, an elevator and best of all, free wireless Internet. The front desk were friendly and helpful and the town itself is absolutely lovely.

The location is very good, but main building need refurbishment .
We stayed third floor, so no lift, was hard with luggage .
Staff was nice.
Make shore , you check out right time, because you have to pay half amount of day if you late.
And if you stay more than one day bring towels, because are not enough .( no ones change )

I'd like to thank you for taking the time to leave your comments about your stay in Cabourg.
This residence is composed of the "villa" which is of ancient style and does not have a lift, but
we also have a newer building in which there is a lift.
Depending on your needs when you reserve, the reception can direct you towards one of the two buildings.
As far as the late departure is concerned, until 15h00 there is no additional charge, only the ones after 18h00 get an adittional charge of 50%.
During stays in our residence, a cleaning package is included per week stay, but the extra towels are available for our guests at the reception desk.
Looking forward to welcoming you again in Cabourg.
Best regards
Christelle Jounet

We stayed in the appt complex and had a 2 brm which was over three levels so if mobility is a bit limited don't stay in one of these as you need to traverse 2 flights of stairs. The Appts had large living/meals area and two spacious brms plus an upstairs and downstairs bathroom they were neat and clean and the complex was very secure with excellent fencing and electric gates which we found comforting with our 2 year old grandson running around. We found the location good with a 10 to 15 min walk to major supermarket and also to town centre.Note there is no check in office located at the appartments and you need to check in at the other hotel located near the casino a small detail that your not told when booking and with the language barrier made for a confusing start to our stay. The sink leaked water from the drain and although attempts were made to have the problem fixed all was to no avail and we ended up placing a bin under the sink to stop water running through the kitchen, wifi is ordinary and is limited to outside in certain spots which is hard to do in cold weather, most cooking utensils and appliances are supplied but the oven is a small bench top thing with electric elements that ran out of control with obviously the themostat not working, saucepans and frypan were cheap and nasty with everything sticking all the time plus there was no kettle at all. Overall a nice neat and clean complex but if they would get the small things right it would be excellent

Room Tip: Confirm check in arrangements when booking

Before arriving at La Closerie it can be confusing to know what to expect because of the mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. Most of the confusion would be mainly down to there being two seperate complexes at La Closerie.

There is:

(a) Cote Casino (advertised as a 3 star appartment)
(b) Cote Port (adviertised as a 4 star appartment)

My wife and I stayed at Cote Port so can only review Cote Port, however we were both genuinely very happy with the appartment, the town Cabourg and the service of the staff. The lady on reception spoke good English and it is obvious she genuine cares about ensuring you have a happy stay. The apartments are a few hundred meters away from the reception as they have been recently built (4 years old). They are spacious and pratical and comfy. We had a really nice power shower downstairs and a standard bath upstairs. There were two double bedrooms and presumably the sofa pulls out to make a third bed (though we didnt use or check this).
The beds were not the comfiest that I have ever stayed in and their double beds are two singles pushed and held together with a double headboard. This meant you did have the hard edges down the middle though is definitely not a holiday wrecker and if that is the worst thing you come across on your holiday you know you've had a good stay.

The apartments have a spacious kitchen area which doubles up as a lounge. There is a small garden with a BBQ outside. The only thing we found missing was a kettle to make tea, though they did have a coffee maker.

Location wise, the apartment is excellent. It is about a 2 minute walk from the sea front and about a 5 minute walk from the main town center. The beaches are beautiful with a lovly long prominade to walk down for the romantic evenings. There is no litter in the area and the town center has many places to eat out. Even the smaller and relatively cheaper restaurants are of a very good standard and you can tell the French love their food as the quality if far better than that of a similar English place. If you haven't been to France before you may find their opening hours rather confusing. The town dies at lunch time for a couple of hours as well as Tuesday evenings. Honestly, you won't find a single sole walking the streets during these hours. I guess Cabourg is mainly a holiday town and will get busier during the summer holidays.

The city of Caen is not far away where you will find other cute little shops with lots of cafe's and a few museams around.

I would certainly recommend Cabourg the couples who want some quiet time together, and I would recommend La Closerie for a place to stay. My wife and I both really enjoyed our time together there and will certainly be looking to go back again in the not to distant future.

Room Tip: Definitely make sure you stay in Cote Port not Cote Casino.

Check-in time here stops at 18:00 sharp. We arrived 30 min. late. Expect to find a closed door. No information anywhere on what to do next. Called the Residence: got voice mail. Left a message, didn't call us back. Finally (about 5% battery life left on my phone) called booking.com and they connected us to the Residence. We drove 3 times back and forth from the Casino Residence to the Port Residence. Finally got into our apartment, which was tidy, and overall satisfying.

Room Tip: Got for the Casino Residence if you want to be close to restaurants, shops etc.
