One of the worst travel decisions we made when booking here - do not bother trying to get a room with balcony even if booking months in advance: the "polite" Monsieur Brian will always tell you that none are available, unless of course you are French... Room totally unpractical and dirty, breakfast lousy, only good thing is the seafront location. I wonder what Accor understands by MGallery hotel?? perhaps it means Moneyback Gallery??! Want a laugh? Just check out the rare replies that the hotel GM - that happens to be the head of MGallery Accor hotels - is giving to unsatisfied Clients. Oh and did I mention the parking? it's a public one and you can never find places. A true gem enjoy!

I visited here with my boyfriend (now husband) in December 2010. The place was very quiet in the off season, so I can't comment on the beach or other guests. But the hotel itself was gorgeous! Such a romantic location right on the beach. We stayed in a massive ocean-front room which was very inexpensive during the winter season. The views were tremendous, the room was extremely spacious and well-decorated, the bathroom was very large and had double sinks. We were visiting Normandy for a D-Day tour, and this hotel was very centrally-located. Very happy with our stay.

Room Tip: Go in the off-season for a big discount on an amazing room! We loved just hanging out in our room, o...

We stayed at the Grand in April for 3 nights & were very pleased. We had a room on the front of the hotel, looking out to the town. All the roads angle in like spokes of a wheel, with the hotel at the center. The view of the town is charming. At the other side is the English Channel. with a great boardwalk. Great location for seeing the Normandy beach landings.

We stayed here for 1 night and wish we had booked for longer. We had a seafront superior room with a balcony, Its a must. We sat out in the early evening watching the sun go down and listening to the sound of the sea. The room was huge and so to was the bathroom, both were beautifully decorated. We received a gift in the evening and an invite to the light show, which is shown every Sunday during the summer season. It was well worth watching as they lit the front facade of the hotel in a style similar to that of Buckingham Palace during the Diamond Jubilee! We ate a superb restaurant called Bouche a Orielle. Amazing food and excellent service. The main street was busy and full of character with street entertainers at several locations. We will definitely return to Cabourg for a longer visit.

Room Tip: Get a sea facing room.

We spent four great nights at Grand Hotel. After traveling along Cote Fleurie, I did not find another "Grand" (historic, luxury) hotel with such an outstanding location. The hotel stands on the beachside broadway, and the sea is just dozens meters away. Even more, the whole town plan is focused on the hotel. It is a true landmark. The "Grand" spirit lives in spectacular lobbies and tasteful room decoration.
We thoroughly enjoyed the sea-facing balcony in the room - a great place to relax and have meals. Room size and quality was completely up to the 5-star standards. The wi-fi is free and fast. Parking is free in the area, and each day we managed to find space close to the hotel.
The hotel's restaurant has a great view as well. The breakfast was very good, not cheap, but in line with local prices. We discovered, that local places do not serve food before noon, so stuck to the hotel's restaurant for full breakfast. We also had a dinner at the same restaurant once and liked it a lot.
I have to say, that staff quality is taking the place a bit down. First, we felt that they are not fully prepared to serve foreign guests and use English (at least, not enthusiastic about it at all). Only the night shift, which welcomed us, performed really well. Second, toiletries and tea bags replenishment in our room was quite irregular. Also, getting just two complementary bottles of water for the WHOLE visit is a joke for such an expensive hotel. Hope that can get fixed before our next visit.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view, preferably with a balcony

Unfortunately in high season the small town appears to attract a crowd which makes The Grand something of an oddity.yes it's five star in the old European tradition but when you choose to take a stroll it's the very ordinary street cafes and poor shops you notice.Dover more than Deauville. On the plus side and as said before the bedrooms were fine, an excellent buffet breakfast included in the price and helpful and efficient if somewhat serious staff. Beware though there's no reserved parking which can result in circling around.
