We happened upon this hotel and restaurant by chance whilst staying in Valenciennes on a christmas market tour. We did not book, but the restaurant soon filled up with locals. We were given a warm welcome, and shown to a table in the old stable. The restaurant is full of 17th centuary charm and even boasts an original cooking spit in the old stable part of the restaurant. The staff were excellent, explaining everything (in English). We enjoyed our meal immensely, great choice of wines, and a very relaxing atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
