My friend, who is French, treated me to a meal in this restaurant. He had heard from others how good it is. It is in Tourcoing near Lille, so off the beaten track, but well worth a visit.

There is a small garden at the back to have an aperitif and "amuse-gueules" before the main meal. I had the 29 euro menu whereas my frind had the 49 euro menu. The food was fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. I had fish which was delicately cooked witha puree of brocolli.I then had a chocolate mousse to die for and with coffee there were gourmet marshmallows.I have a thing about French bread and theirs was so good!

The service was unobtrusive but very friendly. It was one of the best meals that I have ever had. You will not be disappointed!

Ok, where do we start ... Based on the previous review reports, I had hoped to find a hidden gem, a sparkle of hope now French gastronomy is clearly on its decline due to the blind and pretentious attitude of chefs and critics, and due to the lack of innovation (such as international inspiration). Want an example? Take the former big names in Lille ...
The location is not spectacular, borderline dodgy actually. The interior decoration is modern, fresh, but not very homogeneous nor meaningful as a style. The plants on the tables deserve a better life. The exterior terrace is indeed a nice place to have the apéritif, or even the entire meal.
We took the menu Gourmand at 49 € (65€ wines included): homard, cabillaud, soufflé aux abricots. The taste of the first dish was amazing (although it was difficult to find some pieces of lobster); the second dish was surprizing but not really convincing; the desert was clearly disappointing. The in-between sorbet was delicious.
The accompanying wines (Ménard white and red) were very disappointing. Why don't they try affordable international wines like Montepulciano or any kind of Chilean wine? They should spend some time themselves to try out some innovative combinations.
Service was impeccable. Perfect tempo (in 19.30 - out 21.15).
Unfortunately, this becomes so predictable ... when we wanted to pay the bill with our American Express card ... big surprise ... problems with the machine ... We had to use another credit card. Do they really believe we don't see their efforts in avoiding the high AmEx margins ? Deal with the company, not with us! It is not fair to lure clients saying you accept the card and then invent whatever reason for not using it. This really makes me so angry.
Let's summarize: good price/quality ratio. Very good. But it is very frustrating to see that this promising business blows its own chances to become this hidden gem, this new star, this new hope for French gastronomy. They CAN do it, but they don't see it (yet).
We wish them all the best, and will come back in a couple of months.

We think this is one of the nicest restaurants we have experienced on our trip to France. Walking into the restaurant the decor is so impressive with beautiful table cloths and a lovely outdoor area to enjoy an aperitif on warmer days. There were so many extra touches and the hostess was very knowledgable on anything we asked and spoke very good English. This is the classic French food that you search for on a trip to France and we were not disappointed. Even if you were passing through this area it is well worth the stop for amazing French food and service in a lovely dining atmosphere.

Although away from the main city, the restaurant was amazing. Serving traditional northern France food, it also provides the friendly-yet-formal service expected in the region. The canard in cheese sauce was absolutely fabulous. Although I wasn't thrilled with the creme brûlée (it was a touch overdone), the little extra foods given for free (including amazing bread, a gout de maison and gourmet marshmallows) more than made up for that. We went for a business lunch and had an amazing time!
