“Seasonal menu, local ingredients, quite popular!”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

Overall a nice place for dinner, convenient for Clos St Jacques. It does specialise in snails, but don't let that put you off!

“Good food and great atmosphere”
Reviewed September 13, 2010

This restaurant was recommended by our hotelier. We were there on a Saturday night and so went to the restaurant to make a booking - no problem we got a table for as soon as they opened. The food was delicious and service both efficient and friendly. We went for the four course menu and were delighted with what we had both in terms of quantity and quality. They had an excellent wine list and a very good selection of half bottles (why oh why don't English restaurants learn from this!). The restaurant quickly filled up with a mix of tourists and locals but the service never faltered as they got busier. Lovely place to eat - well worth booking if like us you turn up on a Saturday, we got lucky

“A meal to remember at L’Escargot!”
Reviewed September 6, 2009

A meal to remember at L’Escargot! It had been a whole year since we had been to France, so we were eagerly awaiting our first meal: L’Escargot did not disappoint. While the exterior of the restaurant was very plain, inside the décor was nice. However, it was the food and friendly service that made the evening such a delicious and relaxing experience. First, we were served caviar on toast, fois gras, and olive bread. The entrée was a small melon half filled with tiny shrimp and crabmeat – it was divine! The main course was duck with apricots, potatoes, and vegetables. For dessert we had crème brûlée and Dame Blanche (chocolate sundae). Some of the staff spoke English, which was helpful to us. With wine, the bill came to 98€/$141. The location is a short distance from the Hôtel de Ville. Should we ever come back to Cambrai, we’ll head straight for L’Escargot.
Liked best: the food
Liked least: liked everything
