We had a lovely family day here. It was full of really informative posters in both English and French. There was so much to see, the sea lions will be amazing in the summer and we saw the penguins being fed too! There were a couple of bars and I have to say they were far too small and the service was appalling- we went off peak and there was no-where to sit, and bar person serving! But this said the day was fantastic and loved by the whole family.

We spent a lovely cold and wintry afternoon in March in the Nausicaa. Parking is free and easy to find. Admission was very reasonable we paid 14.95 (think this is the reduced rate as it is our of season). We had our 5 year old little girl who thought this was an amazing place. There are lots of different areas all numbered so you can follow the map provided from reception and lots of information regarding different cultures and different fish from different countries. There is also a section on being eco-friendly and also a section that had penguins. The Sharks area is great that you can watch them from above and then go and see them in the tanks.

We also had a snack in the cafe half way round which was also reasonably priced and you can sit and watch the fish whilst you eat.

Would highly recommend to everyone of all ages. It was a great day out.

We visited on a cold and wintry Sunday in march. It was easy to park up and walk in. We had our 8 month old daughter with us and had brought her in a buggy. We hadn't realised that it was on different levels otherwise we could have brought our sling but when they explained on the way in they offered us a baby carrier to borrow and a locked cupboard to put the buggy in. We did this which worked out well. I think this aquarium it beyond any of the sea life centres I have been in in the uk. So much variety. 4d films, amazing displays of the Seychelles and Maldives. However i would say the crocodile enclosure looked very small for them. The crepes in the bar were microwaved but tastes nice enough. Also it cost €17.50 per adult to get in. Quite expensive but felt worth it as took the whole day. It took 25 mins to get to from Calais and is right on the sea front with a nice sandy beach with play area. I imagine it's packed in the summer.

Nausicaa is, obviously, quite an interesting place to visit, and some of the sections (notably the one with the sharks) are quite impressive. We were lucky to visit it on a not-too-busy weekday, because when the place is teeming with visitors, families or whole classes of schoolkids it must soon become too crowded -- not so much for lack of space between the exhibits, but because a visit takes through a maze from one thematic section to another (forrtunately the sections are numbered, but even so one keeps having to pass through the same hall again and again), up and down stairs and passages, into and out of slide and movie shows. The educational intent is self-evident, but that means that a serious visit involves much reading of texts (genuinely interesting and profoundly committed to the environment, but not always too well translated into English), while the aquariums themselves are not as numerous, nor as large, nor as accessible, as we had expected them to be. The comparison with Océanopolis in Brest, devoted to similar issues and themes but presented more efficiently (large aquariums where one can sit down and watch the fish glide by, and no need to climb stairs all the time) would, in our view, be in favour of the latter.
