I loved the diversity of the fishses and all the explanations about the sea world. Unfortunately, the seals were not available as they were reconstructing the basin.

We went for the day to Nausicaa (from London). It is very easy to find - they have taken care to signpost it on all the main routes to Boulogne-sur-Mer. Parking is easy (we found free parking nearby). It is worth pre-booking online as you will save quite a bit: the entrance is quite expensive, and this coming from London folk - where everything is expected to be expensive!
Inside they have created a layout that is brimming with original ideas: one of the routes is via a mock plane, some of the tanks have water movement and this creates fantastic displays, the big shark tank also has open surfaces that are accessed via the top deck. On the top deck is also worth visiting the cafe!
If you visit in the winter make sure you are not overdressed as it will be almost tropical in some of the parts and you will end up carrying all your coats around - not fun. It is also worth looking at the programme for the day as you walk in, as you can then see or take part in the events taking place (projections, feeding fish etc).
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the conservation work they get involved in is highly commendable, and you can see that conservation is a big part of their ethos.
After the visit go to the old town. Just look for the Boulogne Cathedral / Notre-Dame and work your way from there!

Great centre, it tells you a lot about the sea, it's animals and countries/islands threatened by the increasing sea level. For me the focus of the centre is on education so it is more suitable for adults and/or school visits with children older than 10 years. We expected a bit more fun and fear as we were with 8 adults and 9 young children. You have great basins with many different types of fish, sharks and in some basins you are even allowed to touch some fish. You can spend easily half a day here and there is a cafetaria/restaurant.

Enormous aquarium, not too commercial and with good views of the beach and restaurant on site. Although expensive (family of five) I felt it was great value and all ages would enjoy it. Very well displayed and lots of variety including large open 'lagoon area' with sharks. Highly recommended and reason enough to visit Boulogne - one of the most attractive towns in the area.
