Arrived in Boulogne at 9 pm after a long drive. Sat nav directed us to the rear entrance and our hearts sank.
Found our way to the front door, where upon ringing the bell, we were greeted by the owner.
He was extremely polite and helpful, sorting out keys and telling us where we could park and get some food, and gave us code for hotel wi fi without us having to ask.
We had booked a family room, which comprised a room with twin beds and an interconnecting door to a room with a double bed, and a small shower room.
Rooms were not big, but were comfortable and decorated in a 'shabby chic' style.
Our dog was also made welcome.
We had a good sleep and took advantage of the breakfast. This was lovely fresh bread, croissant and pain au chocolate, with jugs of orange juice and a choice of hot drink.
Don't be put off by the exterior, particularly if you arrive at the back. Would re visit this hotel if we are ever back in Bolougne. It was a 20 minute drive to Calais to pick up the Eurotunnel.
Five minute walk to the old town and places to eat, and two minutes from the harbour. Right next to the bus depot, but we did not experience any noise.More
