“Eat elsewhere!”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Dirty table and a waiter who went both deaf and blind after we asked him if could please clean it. Our ten-year old got his overcooked spaghetti Bolognese a good twenty minutes before we saw anything of what the grownups ordered. And a kid who is done eating half an hour before you do does not a tranquil meal make. We got our dinner on the table at last and it was horrible! A big bulk of cooked pig in barbecue sauce and a tasteless leg of lamb with overcooked spaghetti and a bland sauce. It was a very disappointing experience indeed.

“Average food”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

The prices here are about average but the food has been poor to average on both occasion we ate here - lunch and dinner. The fish tasted as though it had been on the slab a bit too long and the steak was tough. Although there is seating outside, it borders a busy crossroads alongside the river.

“very fat oysters!!”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

April 18th, a birthday treat=lunch in Boulogne.....like many towns in Northern France it is suffering in the recession, there are lots of closed shops, restaurants and bars even. The Hamiot was open so all was not lost. My wife was adamant she wanted oysters, so starters were a dozen no.3 for her and half a dozen for me! she had a seafood dish with 4 varieties of fish in a sauce akin to soup de poissons...very rich and full of flavour she opined as a silence fell as she concentrated on the dish. I had an omellete and frites, All washed down with a 36 euro bottle of wine, and much enjoyed. total bill about 100 euros.
Staff were attentive, pleasant, and professional....nothing to complain about, lots to praise...
Bar is good if you want drinks only, and when the front is relaid (concrete being ripped up) it will be pleasant to eat and drink outside in the summer.

“Good service excellent food”
Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

It was Easter Sunday evening and not the ideal time in France to eat out. The French normally eat at lunchtime during holiday times.
However we managed to find Bar Hamiot open for business and everything which we ordered was available.
The three of us had the set menu at 33 Euros each. We all had the Coquilles St. Jacques Gratin, which was fabulous. There were at least 3 scallops each inside the shell. My daughter and my husband had the duck which was cooked perfectly, pink as ordered. I had the blade of beef which unfortunately was tough and tasteless.
The desserts were good too.
There wasn't much atmosphere in the restaurant as there were very few people dining, but it was clean and the service was efficient.

“An excellent bowl of moules !”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Dont' be put off by the litter outside this establishment - it needs a bit of a sweep but is used for outside dining in the Summer I guess. We were made very welcome and both had a huge bowl of mussels and a bottle of wine plus chips and bread The food here is excellent and other dishes looked fab too ! The W.C. was spotless (a great plus for me !) Would highly recommend and would definately eat there again. The place is on the sea front and is easy to find.
