“Astonishingly good for a chain”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Had an outstanding meal here in July. Was astonished to learn , halfway through ,that it was not, as I had thought,a stand alone restaurant, but part of a chain. Exceedingly good value too.
I had salmon and then hake and (almost) went back to my hotel d for a camera to snap the latter so good was the presentation. Was almost disappointed that my car was repaired the next day preventing me from a second sampling of the menu. Cooking of an imaginative order and a very high standard.

“Really good fish, well presented and good value”
Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

We went to Amarine on our first evening in Arras. First impressions were very good. Modern and tastefully furnished with a seaside theme.

Our waitress was lovely. She spoke French with just the right amount of English without being patronising.

We had fish soup, brilliantly presented with all the traditional components in separate cups, and a tiny individual pipette of olive oil. It looked terrific and tasted good, but the roux wasn't as fiery as it is in the south of France. Mains were very good. Grilled salmon with bright green pea foam, and a very elegant seafood platter. We shared a pud - a huge ile flottante with a perfect creme anglaise.

With a carafe of house wine, water and coffee the bill was a very reasonable 53 euros.

Highly recommended and we're going back again.

“Solo lunch”

Hake was on the menu - a fish I like but difficult to get in London. Very well presented; service professional - one of the joys of being in mainland Europe.

“A Fish Restaurant with no Fish Soup”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We were recommended to this by our hotel who rated it as the best fish restaurant in Arras. The hotel reserved a table for a party of nine discerning golfers and sadly we were very disappointed.
The booking was for Monday 20th May which we discovered was a bank holiday in France. That provided some buzz as the restaurant was pretty busy. However we were shown to a table set for nine in the basement which was totally lacking in atmosphere, furthermore it smelt! We asked to be seated elsewhere and whilst the ground floor was full after a bit of re-shuffling the staff managed to lay up our table on the first floor which was very much better.
Having survived this unwanted trauma we asked to order from a rather confusing menu. Six of our party ordered fish soup ( as you do in a fish restaurant!) for starters whilst two others asked for the small Galician sardines. Easy you might think only to be informed, after a lull in proceedings, that there was no more fish soup. The sardine alternative now requested by many as an alternative turned out to come from a tin - indeed they were served in tin! Sea bass was the popular choice as a main course but we were then informed that there were only three left!.
A very disgruntled party left after consuming fairly considerable quantities of wine (which didn't run out) complaining bitterly about our appalling experience and the apparent decline in French service and culinary standards generally.
An attractive restaurant in a fine setting in the main square but don't go if you expect to eat what is offered!

“Great new seafood restaurant”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Great addition to the restaurants in Arras. Lovely decor, fresh and imaginative seafood dishes. Confusingly the on-line menu did not match the restaurant menu, but great daily specials.
