For €6.80 per adult, we went to the top of the belfry and also underneath the city on a guided tour.

On a good clear day, you can see for several miles and get a real appreciation of the lie of the land around Arras. Also great if you have a panorama facility on your camera!

The tunnels (boves) is a guided tour under the town hall and follows a small run of tunnels under the town. This offers a glimpse of life thought the ages right up to the Second World War.

Very good and kids are free!

A very good tour of the tunnels below Arras main square. The guide was highly personable and knowledgeable and the tour is highly recommended.

Enjoyed being lead through the ancient tunnels under Arras. We found the gardening exhibit in the tunnels to be a bit odd, although it was interesting to see what can be grown without sunlight or soil. Would have preferred to learn more about how the tunnels were used in the to wold wars. Still, they are worth a visit.

To be honest I veered between average and very good. I understand it is better to go in the summer months when gardens are created in the Boves. The Boves are a network of underground passages which run under Arras. Previously used as storage for wealthy merchants they were dug out in the 10th C and houses round the fabulous Arras Square have access to the tunnels. I went with very good because the guide was great, it is an amazing piece of history and I've not seen anything quite like it before! Not for those who are claustrophobic - narrow paths, low roofs in places, tiny warren like passages at times. Taken in conjunction with a tour of the Town Hall (incredible art deco architecture and history), the Belfry - superb views and magnificent bell and clockface at the Town Hall, Les Boves also at the Town Hall makes for a pretty good hat trick of information about Arras.
