“When you thought you had seen it all”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

If you thought WW1 was fought in the trenches, visit this excellent attraction and see how it was also fought underground. Due to safety reasons only a small part of the underground tunnels/caves are accesable. However they run for some 21 kilometres. To get a better idea read
Underground warfare 1914-1918 and then you will realise how significant carrierie Wellington is.
I was fortunate that I was the only person on the tour (December) so could ask lots of questions, the young lady who took the tour was very knowledgable and you could tell loved her job. A must for anyone no matter what.

“Very well thought out.”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

Easy to get to, half a mile from the station or about a mile from the main squares. Excellent guided tour with a film presentation at the end.
Very hard to imagine 24,000 troops packed inside these tunnels!

“Well presented history!”

This on-site museum gives detailed and moving insight to the historical events of arras in the 1st world war. The value for money is most certainly worth it. You will be amazed by the skill and the international touch that can be found within the wellington carrières.
