Incredible to learn what went on under Arras - right under the noses of the Germans. All brought to life by modern technology, knowledgable guides and interesting displays. Particulary moving if your are a New Zealand visitor, but fascinating for all.

This was somewhat of a pilgrimage, as I had two great-uncles who were part of the NZ Tunnelling Company that created La Carriere Wellington. Only one returned. The tour is extremely well done and highly recommended. The staff are all very knowledgeable and happy to talk. You do need to book as the tours are guided only.

The man on reception was funny and knowledgeable! He made the trip interesting and amusing. Great experience in the quarry you felt like you were walking in the footsteps of the soldiers. Worthy visit!

We arrived for our visit on a day when it was partially closed for maintenance but when we said we were from New Zealand they still gave us a private guided tour. It was an amazing feat of engineering and hard work. As New Zealanders we felt quite proud.

I joined a large party, which gave me the benefit of their military experience. An opportunity for thought about WW1.
