I recently stayed at this hotel where although the rooms were good (apart from the leaky shower) the standard of the breakfast was poor. I was on a walking tour of the battlefields which included a 4 mile walk each day. We were put in a seperate room from the rest of the guests for breakfast, there was no hot food and the staff had to be found to replace coffee or food. The only food available was strong soft cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt, cereal and bread. I asked the staff if they could at least supply some hot food but was completely ignored.

Stayed: October 2009

Have just enjoyed 5 nights at this Hotel as part of a group. Our room at the rear on the 2nd floor was clean and comfortable. Two lifts are provided and worked faultlessly
The breakfast was extensive and good - the limited hot dishes were quick to run out and could have been warmer. Dinner was good, well cooked and came from a varied menu. The waiting staff were efficient. The House red wine was quite reasonable
Access to the Internet was available to the side of reception but the cost was extortionate and at a level which could not be justified.
There seemed to be a shortage of some items of crockery - my tea pot had no lid and a saucer was supplied instead.
I would return.

Stayed four nights as part of a Legers Holidays walking holiday. The hotel is located an easy 8 minute walk from the Grand Place which has ample bars and restaurants. There are also bars and restaurants outside the hotel if you head towards the train station again an easy 5 minute walk away. In Short the hotel is in a good location. We found the room on the third floor quiet. It was comprised of the bedroom with a flat screen TV, kettle with a few tea/coffee condiments (not many so be prepared take your own) a bath/shower and a separate toilet. The room was clean and modern looking. The breakfast was continental, it was OK as part of our package holiday. We would stay there again.

The Mercure was one of a few hotels right across the street from the train station in Arras... the proprietors spoke some English and were helpful in gettng what was required... had a 12 day stay and the quarters became a little cramped as was working there most of the evening... Arras has a certain charme all it's on... from the restored Town Square Grand Place where towns people were addressed by someone from the balcony on the side of the Town Hall... and all from the 1500s.. and there were neat resturants strewn throughout the squares... there was another square Place of Hearos with equal the number of bars and restuarants and around Christmas they had sellers stalls outside in the square selling fairly nice articles... an ice rink and carousal for the kids...

Anyway the hotel was nice... breakfast was a bit expensive at 14Euros or about $20... little steep for not getting omlet's and real bacon... the rooms were clean, had wireless for 9.90 E and seemed safe enough but for the lack of peepholes on the doors...
Very clean place... bed was comfy and a large screen TV, but only one English channel...
