The Grand Place is undergoing a facelift at the moment (July 2011), so it looks like a bit of a construction site currently but in search of a decent meal we eventually came across the Brussel's Cafe. While a typical style of Brasserie, the food was very good and plentiful. We shared a Flammenkuche as a starter which was a little cheeky at €9 (had paid €4.50 in Germany the day before) but nice nonetheless. My wife had a salad as the main course and it was a hearty size. I had ordered a 400g entrecote (13oz) with pepper sauce, but was shocked at the size of it when it came out on the plate. Not that it was small, but that it was HUGE ! It had to be far bigger than 400g (see photo) - it covered the plate. All through the meal I kept thinking I had been charged for the bigger steak below the one I had picked but when the bill came out, it was the €18.50 that I had chosen. A really excellent steak, with lovely frites and an excellent proper pepper sauce. Definitely a place to visit if hungry.
