You have to see this to believe what you are seeing. I live quite near and am amazed at this structure every time I drive over or under it. Millau used to be an awful place, full of potential but also full of traffic. The viaduct has taken all the traffic way and Millau is now an extremely pleasant place to start or finish your tour of the Gorge du Tarn.

Whatever you do, no matter how short your time in Millau is, make sure you visit the visitor centre. It is a superb place to learn about the viaduct.

This is an amazing piece of architecture. In addition the town is lovely and the landscape breathtaking. Well worth the trip. We will go back.

We sidetracked our trip back "home" to Le Cote d'Azur through le Massif Central, also to view this incredible construction, first viewed on Top Gear.

You have/had to be there. Absolutely unreal!

Travelling through France we misjudge distance and instead of going to St Fleur (beautiful town in the mountains) we decided to stop in Millau. We had crossed the Millau Viaduct in each direction - I would advised the trip from north to south as you get a more stunning view - but we had never stayed in the town. The road into Millau isn't for the faint hearted - pretty steep and lots ofhairpin bends - I'm surprised the Top Gear team haven't been there! Millau is worth a visit - and the views of the viaduct from our Mercure hotel ro om were incredible. Plenty of brasseries offering local produce and of course wine to drink, and lots of little streets to wander through. Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to explore and I doubt if we'll get the chance to do a touring holiday of France by car traction.again - but if we could, we would return to spend some more time in Millau and see more of it's main at

My husband had talked about the bridge for ages and so we decided travelling back through France we would ride the viaduct. There is in the north slope an observation point which has stunning views of the valley.

It was a sunny day and the skies were clear. We stopped at the museum showing the construction of the bridge and it was fascinating. Bikers love riding the viaduct when it's cloudy as you feel as if your riding on the clouds and is a sense only to be experienced. When you see he bridge in clouds, you sense the eery quality and very surreal feeling.

You have to pay a toll to travel the viaduct and it was something only to be witnessed oneself. The views are amazing either way.

If you are on the area, take a detour and try the viaduct for yourself. I am sure you will be amazed as we were.
