My partner took me to La Villa de Mazamet for a surprise weekend at the end of November 2012. We were very warmly welcomed by Mark and Peter who made us feel at home immediately. La Villa is magnificent and no expense has been spared to make it an ideal place to stay. Mark and Peter were in every respect helpful and informative with excellent local contacts such as the English local resident who provides a car service and who took us to visit Carcassonne. Mark and Peter also have an arrangement with an excellent professional masseuse who uses facilities in La Villa. We both enjoyed our massage as well as use of the well equipped spa. The meals at La Villa were memorable as countless reviewers have testified. Bedrooms and bathrooms are large, impressive and beautifully kept. We could not have asked for more and will certainly visit again.

Room Tip: They will undoubtedly all be fantastic.

Many thanks for taking the time to add a review after your stay with us, we really appreciate your kind comments.

We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed your surprise stay at La Villa and a weekend of relaxing with the spa & massages too. It is also great that you were able to experience Carcassonne out of season when, on occasions, you can wander the almost deserted streets of La Cité.

Hope that we may welcome you both back when your travels return you to our corner of France.

Our 3rd visit to La Villa and won't be our last. When we walk through the door we just feel so well looked after and welcome. Everything in the rooms - the furniture, the bedding, towels and bath robes are top quality and spotlessly clean. The facilities surpass a top class hotel, this year Mark and Peter have added coffee machines and fridges in the rooms. Can't think what there will be on our next visit. Dinner is a treat, usually 4 courses + coffee all freshly prepared with local produce. There are 2 lounges for pre or post dinner drinks and then to the most comfortable beds for a good night's sleep. We could not ask for more.

Returning to La Villa for a third time says so much and we really appreciate your continued support....and that you also noticed a few of the enhancements we made last year in the bedrooms.

This year we are creating a new Deluxe Suite in addition to a new covered "pergola" in the garden for guests to sit and relax on sofas in the shade. We are also trying out new recipes and wines that will feature on the menus and wine list - so hopefully we can tempt you back for a 4th visit soon!

I could not bring myself to write a review even after our eagerly anticipated second visit to La Villa - the second visit hard to believe even more perfect than the first - as I wanted to keep the secret. But here I am in mid-winter London and thinking how to plan a third visit and Mark and Peter deserve yet another rave review. They just are the tops for their friendly but measured hospitality and their attention to every detail for both the visitor and their seamless operation of La Villa. Dining room or terrace evening dining with carefully balanced menus, the use of local produce and with delightful presentation. Four minutes walk from the train station for those without a car. If you have a car make use of La Villa's day tour brochure/maps full of the right information for an interesting day out. La Villa - seven rooms of delight. It is like enjoying a personalised five star hotel experience but in a grande private house. Thank you Mark and Peter. The two Mellors - Australia and New York.

Room Tip: All rooms are perfect - grab what you can!

Firstly, we are so pleased that you returned to La Villa for a second stay (and you are thinking of your next visit too!).

It is heartening to have such positive feedback on many aspects of your stay, in particular the fact that you received 'a five-star hotel experience'. One of our key aspirations when we were planning La Villa was to provide our guests with the first class amenities & hospitality, which acclaimed hotels provide, yet with the personal touches that a B&B and private ownership allow.

We know that both the US & Australia are a long way from SW France, however we hope to welcome you both back through our doors in the not too distant future.

We stayed at La Villa for 5 nights in October and were astounded by the quality and value that this accommodation provided. From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be an experience to remember. Mark & Peter were fantastic hosts and everything from the quality of the furniture and fittings to the glorious monogrammed bed linen and towels were amazing. The room we had was very spacious with a huge bathroom and a very nice breakfast was included in the dining room each day - coffees fantastic. The evening meal was superb and we chose to eat in for 4 of the 5 nights we were there - unfortunately one night just happened to be their one night off from the kitchen. Peter's skills in the cooking and presentation of these meals were outstanding and a better culinery experience would be hard to find in any restaurant. They were also able to provide us with suggested driving itineraries as they have a very in depth knowledge of the surrounding areas. These itineraries are professionally printed on glossy paper together with map and what to see in the various places. Over the last 5 years we have travelled extensively through Europe and in particular France and out of many months of travelling this would be the hightlight of any accommodation stay. We can thoroughly recommend La Villa De Mazamet and hope that we get to visit there again. Thank you Mark and Peter. Arthur & Sue, Australia

Many thanks for taking the time to add a review after your stay with us, we really appreciate your kind comments.

It was our pleasure to have welcomed you to La Villa on the recommendation of friends from Australia who stayed with us in 2011. It is so heartening to read that you found La Villa the highlight of your travels within Europe over a five year period.

One of the attractions for us, when buying La Villa to renovate, was the space - with each bedroom being over 20 sq metres (flooded with light from tall windows) and large ensuite bathrooms. This space allowed us to include top quality king size beds and a host of amenities that one would normally only expect to find in highly rated hotels.

We appreciate that you noticed our attention to detail with the linens, evening meals and also our self-drive day trips, many guests have commented on the latter which really do help gain the most from your stay when the area is not already known to you.

When your travels return you from Australia to France we very much hope to welcome you back through the gates of La Villa.

My husband and I stayed at La Villa De Mazamet for five nights in October but wished we could have stayed longer. Peter and Mark are gracious hosts and set the highest possible standard for running a B & B. Both were patient and helpful in answering our questions in advance and for helping us to plan our daily activities following arrival. We only scratched the surface of things to see and do in the Mazamet region. Our evening meals were a treat each night, beautifully prepared by Peter and skillfully served by Mark. As commented by others, the accomodation, food and wine are all excellent value for money. I can truthfully say that this is one of the finest B&B's we have ever stayed in and we look forward to a return visit. There are many things that would attract us back to the area but at the top of the list would be the chance to stay at La Villa De Mazmet again. Mark and Peter are very deserving of all the accolades you read in these Trip Advisor reviews. Marilyn & Dave, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

Many thanks for taking the time to add a review after your stay with us, we really appreciate your kind comments.

Whilst not as hot as Saudi Arabia, we were so pleased that the weather was kind to you during your stay in October, allowing you to take in and explore so much that is on our doorstep and beyond.

The autumn is, as you experienced, a wonderful time of the year to visit with the change in colours of the leaves on the trees & vineyards, the autumnal produce on the local markets - and exploring many villages & attractions without many others around.

We are pleased that you enjoyed dining at La Villa too (and that it represented excellent value for money) - now we are into our quieter winter season, it allows us to research and try out new recipes that we hope you will enjoy on your next visit.

Thank you once again for staying with us and we look forward to your return when you explore more of our wonderful part of France.
