“The Camelia Villa”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

We have now visited the Villa de Mazamet on a number of occasions and are in awe of the way it has developed ,purely by the love, care, attention to detail, and very hard work of Peter and Mark. It is becoming a'sanctuary' a place to go to find comfort, delicious food, and peaceful surroundings.

The spring gardens were a feast of colour, surrounded by Camelias in full bloom. We have visited in full summer and enjoyed a dip in the pool and a drinks and lunch on the terrace. Peter and Mark as hosts have certainly found that magic formula that makes guests feel welcome and relaxed in their very beautiful Villa.

We have stayed in lots of French hotels and B&B over the years and being an extremely critical pair, have never really felt the need to "gush" before - in fact a bit to the contrary really. Villa de Mazamet - we adored it! Its obvious the venture is a labour of love for Mark and Peter and this is reflected in the standard of accomodation, food and hospitality on offer. From the moment we arrived, Mark and Peter were exemplary hosts, offering us a warm welcome and the benefit of their considerable local knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble.
The Villa is beautifully restored - characterful, well spec'd bedrooms, 5* linens, very comfortable beds, spacious and welcoming reception rooms, wonderful food, scrummy local wines - we could go on! Even after we checked out and ran into a spot of bother, we called back to Mazamet and Mark and Peter cheerfully provided us with the help needed to sort things out. (thanks again Guys!). We originally booked for 3 nights but stayed for 6 and did not want to leave. Will we go back? Yes, yes - oh and yes again!
Kevin and Donna (The Cleckheaton Posse)

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior balcony room which we could not fault.

We recently stayed at La Villa De Mazamet for four nights and it was even better than expected! The holiday was perfection from start to finish - from the warm welcome, comfortable and tastefully furnished rooms, wonderful food and relaxed surroundings. Peter and Mark went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

Outstanding.. Needless to say we (my husband and I) are veterans of French upscale countryside accommodation, having made dozens of weekend and longer vacation trips to France over the past 15 years. We look for character properties, small hotels/upscale B&B's that offer excellent quality and service. La Villa De Mazamet has officially topped them all, for quality of the experience, comfort, unusally fine dining for a small hotel, and the ambience created by the warm hospitality of the proprietors, Peter and Mark. It was initially an accidental find, we needed a place to stay at short notice and found La Villa de Mazamet on a web search. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the quality of the decor, which was classy, understated and elegant.. (definitely a cut above the competitors in this price category - where the B&B decor can be borderline Brico) The many small touches will impress, the rooms are extremely comfortable with high quality bedding (another pleasant surprise) and more in room amenities than expected. (coffee/tea makers, no hassle internet access) The dining area caters to 3-4 tables, the service is personal, the food delicious, and the wine list offers 'boutique' selections from local producers.. A nice opportunity to try wines you would never find on a quick weekend trip. Then there are the rates.. a pleasant surprise to find the best price/quality relationship in our travels so far...We have paid much more for less in many other 'similar' hotels.. So if you are thinking of a stop in the area of Castres/Mazamet, give 'La Villa de Mazamet' a try..
It takes great effort to run a hospitality business with this level of investment in the guest experience.. well done to Peter and Mark..

Room Tip: There are 5 rooms - call early, and ask Peter or Mark for the best recommendation.. all are fine..

My husband and I recently spent 5 days at the Villa and would recommend it to anyone. The accommodation is comfortable and spacious; the attention to detail quite wonderful. If you have dinner at the villa, culniary delights await you and the wines are very good quality and certainly within budget.
It is very centrally situated yet extremely quiet at night.
Mark and Peter are hospitable and obliging - full of local knowledge. Certainly a treat!

There is no finer place to go and relax, be well looked after, and enjoy a culinary delight.

Mark and Peter are perfect hosts, the rooms are spacious, spotless and tastefully decorated.

There is plenty to see and do in the area and the train station is close enough to walk to for a car free day in Toulouse.

Room Tip: Deluxe Room has a stand alone large bath in an enormous bathroom with walk in shower and two basins...

We stayed here the last week of July, on arrival we were greeted by Mark and Peter and offered a drink, which was welcome after the long journey from England. The train was not working, so we got the coach from Toulouse airport to the bus station, then a coach to Mazamet.

We were then taken to our room which was just amazing, with every mod con you could ever need on holiday.
There was an I pod dock, wireless internet access, Espresso coffee machine and TV with access to English free view channels and a full compliment of toiletries in your very large bathroom.
Mark and Peter were both very knowledgeable and will help you plan your day, with maps and local information.

It is a must to book in for the evening meal for at least night, the food is amazing and service second to none.

For a nice drink whilst in Mazamet, there is also the bar the Jennyway, which is friendly and welcoming.

We had a very relaxing time and enjoyed our stay at the Villa De Mazamet.
Many thanks to Mark and Peter for being very good hosts.
