On our recent visit to Milna ( a sleepy fishing village!) we ate in Gajeta twice.
It is very busy around 8-9pm and the terrace seating very popular.
On the first night we ordered for starters the Dalmatian Platter and the Chicken Risotto.
The platter was delicious selection of prosciutto, salami, cheeses, olives. A great choice. The chicken risotto was also delicious, full of flavour though a dish I would prefer in winter rather than a balmy summer evening.
Pizza was one main and as pizzas go it was good.
But the other main was more than good! I had the lamb cutlets on honey baked rice & fava beans. The lamb was perfectly cooked, just the right amount of pink. Obviously a nice young lamb before the real strong flavour hit the fat. It was tender melt in the mouth perfection!!
One dessert and that was the Torte Kate, a type of chocolate cake with nuts and biscuit. Very nice with coffee tho a pity it was with cream from a can rather than real cream or ice cream.
We orderd the house wine as is our wont and had the red which was very nice for the price. You get what you pay for.
The second time we ate here the starter was the caprese salad, which was good.
The moans were steak, one was the steak in red wine sauce which again was cooked perfectly and the other steak in balsamic cream. This was served as steak pieces on a bed of mixed leaves with cherry tomatoes. Overall it was nice but I think the meat was a cheaper cut.
Steak in general in Croatia seems to be of high quality and always cooked Med-Rare unless asked.
Dessert was Semifredo which was good.
It is easy to see why it is highly rated and popular even without its prime location in a small town with limited good restaurants.
