We travelled from bordeaux to the lake, it took 3 hrs by car. There are water falls along the route to the lac. There is car park at the front of the ticket office which is 5 euros or free if you get a family pass for pic midi and Lac (cost 112-120 Euro). The lady at the ticket counter spoke english and very friendly and forthcoming . You can hike to the lake or take a cable car followed by a chair lift to the top(obviously included in the price) and then a walk to the lake on flat dirt track( about 15 -20 minutes). The Views simply spectacular, serene and breathtaking, well worth the effort. There is restaurant adjacent to the lake serving sandwiches and hot food, Not vegetarian friendly, but the french fries and fresh cheese baguette was not in bad taste. The owner of the restaurant spoke english. Definite place to see and place to do fly fishing ( Brown trout and Rainbow trout)
