Great lunch here for a special occasion. Modern attractive entrance in a homely front lounge setting...a large front bay detached converted into a fabulous eatery. Good choice on menu and caters for all tastes. Pleasant attentive staff with Breda at the helm...she greets you on arrival with a wonderful smile and Irish charm..enough to take the chill off the winter blues. Wonderful for afternoon teas as well as lunches for a Birthday occasion. Caters for all occasions and business get togethers in addition. Book in advance...gets busy as is expected with a good restaurant. Plenty to view in the Culinary shop on arrival. Added and useful bonus...if you wish to leave the car behind and have a little drink...the train which arrives from Victoria manchester and stops at Salford Crescent station is only across the road from the restaurant. The station is unobtrusive...as you climb steps to get to it. You are in the middle of a country setting in no time...with a pleasant cross country journey on the way. A hassle free journey with good food and a welcome smile right at the end of it...what could be better !

Four of us went to Breda Murphy for lunch on a January Wednesday and were surprised how frantically busy it all was. We had booked a table for 1 pm but had to wait until 1.30 pm before a table became vacant. Sadly there is no bar or waiting room where visitors can wait but they kindly brought me a chair to sit in the entrance foyer as I am both elderly and disabled.
Once we reached our table we only had about 10 minutes to wait before lovely food arrived. I can see why it is so popular with good food at very reasonable prices. The Bowland Lamb and the Sea Bass were pronounced excellent and I had a generous helping of piping hot fish pie. It was a rather bland and would have been helped if it had included a little natural smoked haddock instead of just poached haddock. Nevertheless, plenty of fish in the pie.

The desserts were gorgeous, ruinous to any diet but delicous. I had the warm chocolate and Irish Whisky sponge with hazelnut ice cream and others had the pannacotta and were equally delighted.

A very friendly staff and our sherries we drank whllst hanging around, which I had ordered and expected ot be on the bill, in fact turned ouit to be complimentary because of the time we had to wait. The total bill, including pleasant glasses of wine with the meal, only came to £84 for the four of us so we were well pleased with that as well.

A pity about the waiting but in future we will inquire when we book if they are busy, and if they are then choose another day as we are free to come any day they are open.

Visited for lunch with friends who had read excellent reviews of this restaurant. We were certainly not disappointed. Breda met us on arrival and we were won over immediately by her warm Irish charm. Lunch itself was a delight. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasted just as good. There is an extensive menu choice at reasonable prices. The restaurant itself has a good friendly atmosphere and the staff know how to look after their guests. Highly recommended and intend to sample Afternoon Tea on our next visit - it looked delicious!!

One of the best restaurants in the UK. Make sure you book in advance. Superb ingredients, cooked perfectly served with a proper "Irish" smile. If its important that everything is perfect I come here.

Food by Breda Murphy is alittle gem tucked away just outside the centre of Whalley. I visited just before Christmas with a friend for lunch, the service was great and it had a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere. There were lots of dishes to choose from and a great specials board. Aswell as the restaurant there is also the deli/shop which has the most amazing cakes and tasty ready meals to take home, we were too full from our lunch to have dessert so took home some of Bredas homemade Chocolate and Irish Whiskey Cake..
Im often popping in for a sandwich to takeaway when im passing on my bike so ill see you soon!
