“An Absolute Must”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Have been here several times and recently took my mother and a friend on separate occasions. Food simply outstanding, service superb and excellent value for money. Cakes to die for and having eaten in several five star London restaurants the food is on a definite par. An absolute must for anyone wanting to treat someone to a special occasion. Even if you don't eat in the restaurant the fantastic food from the deli is just as great quality. Chocolate Brownies best I have ever tasted. A very satisfied customer.

“MOTHER'S DAY TREAT”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Just come back from a delicious Mother's Day lunch at Breda's. I have been about five times before and also twice for afternoon tea so it was interesting to see if it was going to be different for this occasion as Breda isn't usually open on a Sunday. The bookings had been cleverly staggered so that the kitchen could cope with orders, rather than an onslaught at one particular time when everyone ends up waiting indefinitely for their meals. We were greeted personally by Breda and her team and our order was quickly taken. I could in all honesty have eaten anything and everything on the menu and our choices were excellent. The staff were, as always, very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone seemed to be served in a timely fashion and there was a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.

“Mothering Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome. Staff are very friendly and can't do enough to please.
To start we were served lovely warmed homemade bread. I really enjoyed the warm salad of chicken, bacon and avocado with tomatoes and mango gel and my husband equally praised the
Wellgate smoked salmon with beetroot carpaccio, char grilled king prawns and horseradish sorbet. All beautifully presented.
The slow roast rib of Bowland beef was less pleasing. Is it just me, or is beef generally disappointing these days? The roast potatoes were fried. The creamed potatoes were surplus to requirements, The Yorkshire pudding and horseradish jus was good but the whole meal was only just hot enough.
The warm orange and treacle tart with crème fraiche ice cream was to die for. The pastry was outstandingly good and the treacle tart was not too sweet. My husband enjoyed the almond and vanilla parfait with poached spring rhubarb. Excellent freshly ground coffee rounded off the meal. We paid £27.50 per person.

Try this place first for a cake and a coffee. You won't be disappointed.

“A real gem for lunch or afternoon tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

I have eaten here 3 times. Last visit was a late lunch midweek but would recommend to book certainly on Fri/Sat. The food is excellent although not somewhere to come if you need to eat in under an hour, more of a leisurely experience. The regional specialities are interesting and a good twist on the traditional eg sticky toffee pudding made with parsnips. The afternoon tea is as good as Northcote Manor and slightly cheaper with a glass of wine. If you have young children don't bring buggy in as short of space to manoeuvre.
