“Hotel with atmosphere”
Reviewed February 28, 2014 via mobile

Spent one night here while on business in the area. Got a large room, nice and clean and with a good bed. Breakfast was basic but ok. Interesting decor, furniture and room and floor layout makes it a nice change from impersonal business hotels.

We spent an overnight here on our way back to GB from Italy. We got a good deal on the room and it was terrific value with nice linens and soft furnishings. The bathroom in our room was excellent. Got stung with the breakfast which was poor at 15 euros each, but overall we felt we had good value. Just to have the Restaurant Ducs de Lorraine on the same site (though it must be stressed this is a different business) was a plus.

I will not suggest this hotel for a business trip. The building is affascinating but the service are more likely a bed and breakfast.. the internet does not work very well, the reception opens from 8-22 and when i came back at 16 nobody was There. The moquette has a smell of old and the staff was not able to pass to my room a call. The location is central but the station is 10-15 min walk.the price is more a 4 star hotel..

The staff were very friendly, providing us with a cold platter when we arived tired and hungry at 10.30 pm. We loved the room and spent hours just lazing on the balcony, sunning ourselves, snoozing and watching Epinal stoll by.

Breakfast was good with the exception of the terrible coffee. However: The breakfast hours were excellent 7 - 11 am during the week and 8-12 during the weekends. For a change we did not have to leap out of bed and hurry to get breakfast.

We look forward to coming back again.

Stayed overnight at Le Manoir on our way to Switzerland in June (2011). The restaurant was superb but the hotel was not in the same league at all. The restaurant and the hotel appear to be run as separate businesses, with the restaurant occupying the ground floor. The hotel seems to be the poor relation. We found the checking in rather strange, having to walk up a flight of stairs to the first floor. One person seemed to be doing everything. Our room was fine but rather disappointing after such a splendid meal. Breakfast was a joke - served in a dark, dingy room in the basement with little light and a large TV screen turned on to add to the discomfort. We seemed to be he only people in the building. The same person again doing everything. She was so helpful but seemed overwhelmed. Was there anyone else looking after the hotel? It seemed not. If you are looking for somewhere to eat and don't mind the price then the restaurant is an ideal choice, but I do not recommend staying at the hotel. The owners either need to invest in the hotel to bring it up to the same standard as the restaurant or close it. I found the idea of having to check in on the first floor very off-putting and unfriendly. I expected at least to be greeted by a hotel receptionist on entering the place, not finding a sign indicating I have to walk up with the baggage to the first floor.

Once again very friendly welcome and another very nice room. Price-quality reationship is excellent. We always admire the beautiful pieces of art all over the hotel and in the rooms.
Our room (the 4th different room we tried so far) had a window which was difficult to open, otherwise everything was in perfect shape.
We always choose this hotel when getting a treat in the fabulous Les Ducs de Lorraine in the same building. So the location is a very big plus for us. The heart of the city with its nice shops can easily be reached by foot.

Room Tip: So far all 4 rooms were equally nice and all different.
