Amazing hotel with outstanding service. Beautiful area of France with Avignon and wineries galore- only issue is you'll never want to leave the hotel! Grounds, service, food, simply magnificent. The staff is very friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. The best service I've ever experienced in France hands down.

In June 2012 we went to a number of similar places in Provence and this one was by far the best. Faultess and all was amazing, service, food, cleanliness, rooms (got upgraded with toddler for free twice). The garden was magic, recommended to book a table overlooking the garden for the evening. Swimming pool super. Breakfast worth it. We dream about going back.

We walked along the river and over the bridge to Anignon - 20 minutes. Perfect way to see Anignon without having to put up with crowds. Some nice small restaurants in Villeneuve. Had good time talking with the owners. Room was great. Spacious for France. Very clean and proper. Had a suite with a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Lovely place to sit out and read and share a glass of wine. Stay was the highlight of our two weeks in France. Travelled on off season, so value of the room was very good.

The room was well furnished, overlooked the pool and was large and had a very big balcony. The garden sets off the location of the hotel. The bathroom was well appointed and had a big bath with a hand held shower and also a separate shower cubicle. The separate toilet is a good bonus. The bed was very comfortable. As you would expect the daily upkeep of the room was impeccable with extra attention paid to refreshing towels, used glasses etc while you are out in the evening. The village is a short drive from Avignon so is perfectly located for sight seeing. Paid parking is easy in Avignon the free parking outside the city walls fills up pretty quickly. If you are prepared to walk a short distance (less than 5 mins) there is plentiful free parking near the Bagatelle Camping ground on the island in the middle of the Rhone. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant so can't comment. We were travelling off season so the room rate was excellent. Plenty of good restaurants in the Village. Highly recommend a restaurant very close by called L'Aubergine. Very easy to find. Most staff members were genuinely engaged with guests and their needs. I would have given this hotel 5 but a couple of front office staff who were pretentious rather than helpful.

Room Tip: This is a very quiet location and all rooms are well sound proofed.

This was a birthday celebration in Provence.. Our family has been to many many Relais et Chateux and so my wife and I were expecting great things from this 5 star property. The setting is lovely, the town quiet and charming, the hotel itself and its gardens simply wonderful. The staff by and large are very pleasant. One in particular, Sami went out of his way to be helpful. The problems started at check in. The reception staff is pleasant and smiling but if they tell you something will be done..do not count on it. For instance, the reception desk did not know how we could call the front desk - the basics. The mattress in a suite was, well, think college dorm. 6 inch mattress on a wooden platform. Had to replace one half of the king bed as it was quite uncomfortable. The toiletries..tiny and had to use those from the last hotel. Towels..only 2 bath towels for 2 people and with open shower you can guess where one of them landed. Internet did not work from the start. Finally, after the manger's attention was demanded there was eventually a solution. Breakfast is not included, but look out it is expensive(25 euros) and the buffet has cereal, a few pastries, and some sausage. If you want eggs, add an additonal 8 euros! To be fair we did get free coffee. All in all just a lovely spot that lacks North American or Japenese 5 star quality. The owners of this hotel have 2 others. We hope they are managed better.

The hotel is really conveniently located for exploring the nearby charming towns and sights, however the hotel itself is a bit tricky to find. From the parking a gorgeous flower archway leads to the inner courtyard and the reception. The grounds are really nice, especially the old lime tree, that was in full blossom during our stay.
We stayed for two nights in the room #54, which was spacious, comfortably furnished and clean, however lacking individuality. The view over the pool was charming. The price for two nights was 495 euro (270+225).
It appeared to have been limited choice of decent restaurants nearby, so we dined in the hotel. The food was great, but not exceptional. The service was inappropriately pompous. The total bill for two modest dinners a la carte without wine amounted to 370 euro. The unusual thing was to pay 42 euro for the starter, whereas the main course cost almost the same - 46-48 euro.

We were traveling with friends that found a great rate for this hotel in the off-season. Mistral winds at the end of October made our sightseeing a little more challenging, but Le Prieuré offered a welcome refuge. The staff of both the hotel and restaurant were top notch. The room, just the classic, was wonderful. It was plenty big, nicely furnished, and had a nice view over the pool and grounds. Our meal, while not the bargain of the room rate (and in fact comparable in price), was incredible.

On a previous visit to Avignon, my wife and I stayed in Avignon proper which was nice for walking around the city, but was a challenge for parking as that hotel didn't have their own, and was blocks away from any parking whatsoever. I was slightly concerned about the convenience of Villeneuve-les-Avignon. While the hotel is a little hard to find, once you find it, you are pretty well set. There is plenty of parking, and if you want to visit Avignon, it is a short drive across the river. We drove across and parked under the Palais du Pape for our site seeing. As for finding the hotel, our GPS didn't have Place du Chapitre in its database, just Impasse du Chapitre, which as the name implies, is a dead end. Look at the map linked from Le Prieuré website before going if you are driving.
