“Nice setting and Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

Had an evening meal and enjoyed both the service and food. Waiters and waitress were attentive and made us feel welcome. Always an issue if you can't speak french. Food was nice well presented and reasonably priced. We sat out on rear deck and was most comfortable with reasonable space between tables. Park available…. always a blessing. If in Avingono wanting a change then this restaurant worth a visit.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

As I'm staying in Villeneuve-les-Avignon for a month, I've already visited this restaurant about four times - it's worth going back again and again! It's a bit difficult to find, beneath the bridge into Avignon, and there's not much of a view, but the food is worth it. There's a wide range of pizzas and mozzarellas, and a small selection of other dishes, plus a dish of the day. I've had the lasagne du jour every time I've been - meant to try some other dishes but it's just too tasty! To warn other English diners: I expected bolognese sauce, but instead the ingredients change each day, and it's all covered in a thick layer of cheese. I've had mushrooms one day, tomato and courgette another, smoked ham and onion another - all with lovely fresh pasta and all delicious. The homemade bread is out of this world as well.

Service is prompt and pleasant, and the prices are extremely reasonable - 12 euros for my lasagna, and I can hardly finish it once the bread gets involved. If you're in Villeneuve and don't fancy trekking into Avignon for dinner (especially in the freezing mistral wind at this time of year!) this restaurant is a winner.

“Hidden gem”

A bit hard to find, but worth it. Great food and wine. Mostly locals but we were treated well and it was some of the best food in our two weeks in France!

“a mixed review - mainly negative”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2012

We left Basta Cosi feeling disappointed at the attitude of staff (with the exception of a young blonde woman who tried to retrieve the situation). We were ignored by the first member of staff on entry. Our male waiter was haughty and arrogant to the point of rudeness. We love to try and speak French and Spain but having just left Spain (the return leg of our honeymoon trip) and entered France we were much less than perfect. However, we found no tolerance of our efforts.

On the plus side - the setting was nice, quite quirkily located, and the vibe could have been cool. The food was OK - but they did not have white wine, only red. And two of the dishes we wished to order were no longer available.

A sign in the toilet advises that they value patrons opinions and they encouraged them. Regrettably, this is ours.

“Great pizzas and terrace!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012 via mobile

We ate here for lunch on a gorgeous day - we thoroughly enjoyed eating al fresco on their beautiful terrace. We all agreed that the pizzas were the best we'd had in to years of living in the south of France. Very cool place!
