“Great value for money, clean decent hotel”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Very good value for money, we paid 105 euros per night in mid-August, which is an excellent price for an hotel so close to the beach! Hotel is a bit older but is spotlessly clean. The room had airco which worked fine.
Decent size room.

Beds are comfortable, there is a small tv with an international selection of channels. About one block from the beach (3 minute walk). Breakfast (not included, but fair price at 8 eruos) was simple but good, croissants were delicious. Would have liked nutella as the breakfast (we're in France!) :)

Owner speaks limited English but is very friendly.

Parking is free at the hotel parking lot. Plenty of free parking around as well.

If you're not looking for too much luxury but a clean, affordable hotel next to the beach, this is the one for you.

The cons:

Only one pillow on each bed. There was one additional pillow in the closet but it would have been great to have another one.

Seat on toilet was loose (room 109).

Not related to the hotel but we (young couple) were not ecstatic about Canet. It edges towards mass tourism. If you're a family with children this is fine as there is a lot to do, but we prefer the smaller villages around.

Overall rating: very good value for money. The hotel is pleasantly clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are really hughe, the hotel is well-situated (next to the harbor). Plenty of restaurants are whithin easy reach, parking is free. The variety offered at breakfast is limited, but it is absolutely acceptable.

This is a modern style hotel although could do with some updating. It is very close to the port and huge long beach in Canet Plage. All rooms have balcony with table and 2chairs and we got a top floor sea view room as requested and it had a fine view .It is in a quiet area and has free parking. The beds are comfortable, the aircon quiet and there is free wi-fi. The bathroom was a good size but the shower over the bath and no curtain so difficult to keep floor dry but we understand that curtains are to be fitted soon. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast good although it was 8euros. As the room was only 49euros we thought this was very good value for the south of France and its a good point for visiting other areas of the coast or indeed inland. We didnt eat there at night but there is a set menu and they seem to cater to bus tours but everyone was up and gone by the time we came down at 9am

Room Tip: 3rd floor ( top ) with sea view

My wife and i stayed at the hotel du port for 4 days using the location as a base for trips around the area...

Never had an opportunity to eat there so i cant comment but a French coach party ate there most nights and seemed happy enough , so if a restaurant can please a French party of 50 it`s good enough for me !!.. The breakfast was ample and coffee great!

The main thing that struck us was how ` FANTASTIC` the owners were .. nothing was too much trouble for this family run business. Even their daughter helped out for breakfast in the mornings. They even gave us their contact number on the first day in case we got lost and needed help ! ...

The air con worked like a dream and was silent, chambermaids were friendly ( even took the trouble to fold my tee shirt i had left on the bed )

The location was fantastic ... for the evening walks along the coast we could leave the car at the hotel. Though in very busy periods i would say to book a car parking place in advance as parking could become restricted.

We loved perpignan and will be going back .. when we do we will def be going back to this Hotel .. if you have any questions about this Hotel please feel free to ask..

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel for 5 nights. We arrived early at the Hotel in the morning but this didn't seem to faze the receptionist, he quickly found us a room. The room was just what we asked for a room with a sea view right on the top floor ( only three floors ) , We didn't eat at the hotel but seemed that quite a few did so cant comment on this. The position of the Hotel was great just 100mtrs form the beach and the harbour, we did manage to park at the Hotel be it a bit tight,.
My advice would be to take a small travel kettle and a hair drier if needed.
A must is to take the small train that goes in a circuit around the front of the Hotel it takes 1 hour to complete and cost 3 Euros this way you can get your bearings.
We used the Hotel as a base to explored further a field as we picked up a hire car from the Airport on arrival, finding the Hotel was quite easy as well sign posted on the main road.
People didn't speak English but they did try and didn't seem to mind our broken French . ( need to learn more French for next time)
We will definatly will go back and stay here again.
Parking in Perpignan city was not great.
Places to visit : Carcassonne Castle is a must and Port - Vendres go early for parking.
