Best Western Hotel Canet-Plage
Reviewed April 24, 2012

Good position, right on the seafront and a 5 minute walk from the centre of Canet Plage. All of the public rooms are bright, clean and modern and the free wi-fi is a bonus. A nice touch are the computers for children to use. Breakfast is continental in style, not a massive choice, but certainly adequate. We found the service to be excellent, all of the staff were very friendly and a special mention must go to our Maid who was brilliant! The bedrooms let this hotel down and are the reason we only rate this hotel as average. They are well worn, furniture is mismatched and really spoils what is otherwise a good hotel. The beds are firm and comfortable, however it would have been nice to have some spare pillows in the room. The A/C unit worked very effectively (both hot and cold) and it's worth mentioning, because it isn't clear, that the rooms do have electric window blinds. A sea view room is well worth having, although I would imagine it would be noisy at the front during the high season. Despite this review, we would definitely visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: All rooms are grouped around the lift/stairs and the lift does make some noise. The front has the be...

A centrally placed hotel not too far from the main centre of Canet but away from the busier part. Friendly staff happy to speak English. A great breakfast in a lovely reception area. Very easy access to the internet. Rooms could be updated to have a more modern feel but it was very clean.

August 2011 is obviously not the best in question of weather (we experienced hailstorm during our stay there), it's a pity the sea water is very cold this year, but the place itself is worth visiting at least once.

It is a former Mercure Hotel downgraded to 3-star all seasons.

- free wi-fi;
-good location in front of the wide Canet beach;
- professional staff.

---
- a little bit frugal breakfast, no hot meals;
- inconvenient bedding - no double beds. In fact, only two single bed brought together.

we were met with very friendly staff at the hotel.... i was really impressed.
The room was fairly basic but the bed and DUVET were fantastic and really new and quiet a/c unit (useful when its 35degC outside)

We were surprised by this hotel - basically, I think we expected something more modern and better. We have stayed in All Seasons before and this hotel obviously belonged to a different brand, which has since been taken over.
Parking is not obvious as it is on the street, but was plentiful and not a problem. We had fabulous views from our top floor room, but there was insufficient curtaining and the french doors rattled all night, so we didn't sleep too well. The room was very cramped - made worse because we were trying to fit in a travel cot, which made it difficult to move around. The bathroom was dark and dingy - you need your own toiletries.
Staff were very pleasant and breakfast was very good.
We ate out in the evening - the main issue was the wind which was practically hurricane force! We have since found out that this particular part of France is known for its windy conditions, so be prepared!
We were only staying one evening but, in retrospect, we would have stayed further inland and visited Canet to eat.

Room Tip: try to get a room overlooking the sea

i have stayed here before and it was okay just been again for second visit and was disappointed with my room, air con didn't work and patio doors and shutter were filthy and have not been cleaned for some time. Room was close to a lift so not very quiet. Wifi was also very slow and signal intermittent.

Service was good and breakfast was good, rooms for a relatively expensive hotel in the area were very poor compared to others that were considerably cheaper.
