How we found this place I'm not quite sure, but we did, passing a pleasant hour or so before tootling over to Beziers Airport for the flight home. It is out of the way over seriously narrow humped back bridges and pot-holed roads but the setting is special, right on the bank of the Canal Du Midi where you can watch the passing boats chug by.
I loved the way the other diners all said "Bonjour...." to us when we arrived and took our seats in the pretty garden. We opted for the "Formula" lunch - which included two very tasty salads, delicious Pork or Fish with excellent vegetables, followed by a Strawberry Gazpacho with a hint of mint and a creamy ice cream centre. Delicious!
I would say top end of average dining, worth the trip certainly but I suspect the evening meal prices are considerably higher than our reasonable lunch. The place could do with a bit of a sweep and a clean up with some attention to detail.....

Currently spending a weekend near beziers for our wedding anniversary. Staying at La Gourgasse Vielle in a lovely two bedroom apartment on the canal. The onsite restaurant Cote Canal is excellent. Had dinner here on on first evening. The food was delicious. A beautiful take on a ceasar salad to start, followed by sea bass, prawns and squid main and finished with a home made chocolate mousse. My wife choose the same starter and main but followed with a coffee and a selection of four mini desserts. A regional white wine to accompany the meal. I would highly recommend anyone in the area visiting this tranquil setting by the canal in the summer months. Stephanie the host was brilliant.

We have now been here twice - one evening and one lunch.
The food was excellent both times.
Evening service was marred by having to choose bottled wine, rather than the usual French carafe. There was only two of us and one of us was driving, so that turned a nice glass of wine into a very expensive bottle for one! However, the wine was excellent.
Some odd little quirks...there only seemed to be a limited number of salt and pepper mills....not one per table. Slightly annoying as we had to give ours up before we had finished the course.
Lunch was lovely, but inside, as it was cooler. The acoustics were not good. We could not talk to each other, unless we raised our voices. It was difficult to hear the menu explanation.
However, we would not hesitate to go back again.
Very pleasant service and not too long a wait. ....it always seems longer when there are only two of us.
Definitely a restaurant to try.

Noticed a brown sign to this restaurant unfortunately this led us to a old narrow bridge crossing the canal and as we were in a rather large motorhome we decided not to risk it and drove round till we came to the restaurant from another direction. It was well worth it! Had a lovely lunch in the garden by the canal with boats up and down so peaceful. Service very attentive and helpful. Food superb.

We were blown away by this restaurant and the hospitality.

The food was definitely the best meal we had on the Canal trip.

You must stop here
