this was our first camping trip and we had a great time.We arrive with our 3 kids (6,3 & 1) on June 26th. We booked with lifestyle holidays and stayed in a 2 bed with deck and air con. Mobile was very clean and comfortable and was situated perfectly under some lovely large trees which give some shade. It had a deck and barby and sun loungers. Camp site was lovely. Pools were perfect for small kids and had all different size of slides and also a kiddies pool. At night it was quiet there is a security guard that goes around to make sure everything is ok and that there is no noise polution. The shop and restaurant at entrance was also very clean and priced reasonably with a good choice of food..The mobile homes were placed in a way that you had nice privacy even though they were close together, but they were on a different level to ours so they didnt seem to close. There was an intermarket about 5 minute away in car which had everything. It was like an Asda. The beech is also close and the local town is also very close and has loads of market stalls and has a beautiful beech and prominard. The only small quib I would have is check out is at 10 which is very early.highly recommend

Had a week at this lovely campsite returning 30th June. The mobile homes are set in lovely woodland area. Wake up to birds singing and the buzzing of nature! Other reviews have said that the homes are very close together which is true, however, clever planting and positioning gives you a bit of privacy. The pool area is truly gorgeous especially for small children. Lovely plastic grass area (no ants) with shady trees, otherwise, bring or buy a parasol. Plenty of sunbeds to go round regardless of the time of day.The pool snack bar is not expensive as some people have said. 2 euros for chips. 4.90 for a large beer. In the nearby village of Le Racou the drinks and meals are more expensive. The Hotel Oasis restaurant serve HUGE portions and the food is lovely. The Restaurant Valmarie also serves good food and a large beer was about 5 euros. There was entertainment on 3 nights and the rest was all football. Staff here are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

We went with Lifestyle holidays. The reps Simon and Trish were lovely, greeted us, showed us to our home and gave us lots of hints and tips. Spoke to us every time we saw them even when they were not working, a pleasant, friendly couple.
Port Argeles is a 10 minute walk away and we were just a 2 minute walk from the beach of Le Racou.
The mobile home was not as big as I expected but there were only the two of us though my husband had a job to fit into the toilet!! A little cramped but beautifully squeaky clean and nice crockery and cutlery, not "caravanny" type stuff.
All in all I wouldn't hesitate going back to this site. It was a really lovely relaxing week.

Room Tip: Go with Lifestyle. The outside areas are much nicer than the other tour operators.

Stayed here late August 2011

Good Bits
+ Good site for families our kids 8 & 4 both loved the slides and the pool, note the pool is for playing in, no good for doing lengths.
+ Great location able to walk to a beach and to bars and restaurants at the port (20min walk) and even Argeles Plage centre is only 30min walk away. It’s quite rare to be able to do this on a campsite as they are usually well out of town (like this sites sister sites Hippocampe and La Sirene)

Not So Good Bits
+ Sunloungers tightly packed in around pool and only available shade is from a tree (though having visited both La Sirene and Hippocampe to try out their slides and we shouldn’t complain as unbelievably both sites had no loungers at all)

Tips
+ We booked through Lifestyle holidays whose prices are more competitive than bigger operators, they seemed to have around 12 or so vans on site all new and clean. That said they were on the small side but as the weather was good we spent most of our time outside so this didn’t matter too much.
+ We flew to Barcelona due to much cheaper for flights and carhire than Perpignan and only a 2 hour drive away (Girona is even closer).
+ Prices drop-off end of August after bank-hol.

30th July to 13th August.
We booked this site on recommendation and were not disappointed. At first arrival, yes the caravans seem close together, but they are cleverly positioned so you are not holidaying with your neighbours, so to speak! And lots of our neightbours were Dutch :-)
Would recommend Lifestyle Holidays; the caravan was new and clean on arrival, with aircon and the decking seemed better than the gravel other vans had. Could do with a dvd player & monitor, a bath mat in the bathroom and towels that are less fluffy lol!!!
My children aged 8 and 6 absolutely loved the pool and waterslides; we were there every morning at 10, there was no rush for the sunbeds which you get some places (and you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn), the pool was sparkling clean every day, and the lifeguards (kind of) made sure everyone stuck to "the rules".
The pool bar is slightly expensive, but the chips and calamari were lovely, as was the coffee :-) Freindly staff every day.
The restaurant at the site is good too, a good children's menu and reasonably priced. However, the best place (I think) is Coco Loco in Racou; delicious pizzas, and we tried a lot of pizzas this holiday.....
The beach at Racou is huge; the sea was a bit cold but lovely!
Port Argeles is easily walkable and has more restaurants, shops and bars. Every Friday and Tuesday has a selection of stalls selling "stuff"
Further on along the promenade is Argeles Plage; utter madness in the height of summer! Very busy, noisy, lots going on. Do not drive here or even get the bus, the queues into town were horrendous. YOu can walk in the same time and get a better view!!
So so lovely here; we would definitely return to this site as it was a perfect, relaxing holiday!

Room Tip: Select your plot before you go, we were lucky & had a good site.

Wow, Just returned from a week here. Pool was amazing kids 2, 6, and 10 would have spent all holiday on the 5 water slides. Beach was nice Too and only a couple of mins walk.
Perfect location outside Argeles main town which meant it was less busy and a smaller campsite.
At first glance the caravans look close together, but the careful persitioning means this was never a problem.
The two playgrounds and ping pong tables were also a hit with the kids.
There is a bus-train from outside the camp To Argeles where you Can catch the train, so apart from a trip To the supermarket and Mountains We didn't use the car!
The little yellow mountain train was amazing. As were nearby towns.
Would recommend the camp resterant and the nearby tapas bar. You need To book a table for the bar as it is always packed.
A visit To the patisseries in Argeles village is highly recommended, one of the best strawberry tarts.
Be warned the hypermarket Calfour is hellish- packed like Christmas time in Sainsbury! Toilet roll, beer and waters are out back in shed- we spend ages looking for them. Also plan route avoiding one way system in village.
Only real down side was Mon, Tues and Wed night We were kept awake till 12 ish by loud music from the nearby port.
Collioure was beautiful and easy access by train, beach To the East behind Notre Dam Cathedral is much less busy And perfect for a swim.
But this was The perfect campsite for all ages, 67, 64, 31, 29, 10, 6 and 2 years.
Sorry To be home :(

Just got back from two weeks (August) at Le Bois de Valmarie where we stayed in a Key Camp caravan/ mobile home.

The site was very clean and well looked after with a good layout and plenty of space between the caravans.

The caravans themselves were large enough for a family of four, were well equipped and had good patio furniture. The pool was excellent - sitting at the top of the site overlooking tepee beach with the backdrop of mountains. Our children (6 and 9) loved the pool's slides and there was always plenty of space to sunbathe.

The camp shop was reasonably priced and included a bakery. The cafe's food was quite expensive but with so many local restaurants it wasn't a problem.

Best of all was Tyne location (not correctly marked on this google map). Situated in Le Racou, it was about a mile from Argeles-sur-Mer which meant it was quieter than the rest of town at night. That said, Argeles Marina, about a 5 minute walk away, was very classy with loads of restaurants and bars which were reasonably priced. From the campsite, the beach was 100 yards. The town itself was connected to the site with a train bus and was busy but not tacky.

In August we had one cloudy day and clear blue sky's with temperatures of 27-32 degrees every day.

A fabulous site, resort and location - have already booked forcnext year.

We stayed here with Key Camp with our 18 month and 5 year old children. Firstly our mobile home was very nice and modern although was not impressed at all with cleaning as the floor was black with dirt. The reps were also useless and unhelpful.

The site is small but was perfect for our needs. The pool area is fantastic and our daughter loved it so much we could not drag her away. It was clean and the slides were fantastic. A great place for sun bathing and although it was late july/ august we could usually get a sun bed with out any problems.
The site resturant was very nice and child friendly we ate there a good few times and really enjoyed it. The site also had two small play areas that our children loved. Key camp did not run its own childrens club which was a real shame but we joined in with one of the Dutch companys mini discos as they didnt seem to mind and our daughter enjoyed making friends with children from all across europe.
The Port near by is very nice especially in the evening and we found a good resturant called Pizza Top that was reasonable and very child friendly.
Argeles resort is VERY busy and mad - not our thing but good for older children and teenagers. The site is far away enough that you can forget about the big busy resort and enjoy peace and quiet.
This site would be best suited to families with younger children as i think older children would be bored here especially in the evening as there is no evening entertainment. Overall we had a very nice holiday and met some lovely people.
