“Great site, we'd come back.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2011

Really enjoyed the site but won't use Eurocamp again, their staff were great but the caravan was not of the quality we were expecting, quite tired looking and in need of a little TLC.
Pool is great, kids really enjoyed it, nice and clean, regular checks on the water by staff, area around pool is grass which looks nice but this does get watered each night and early morning, leading to it being very damp/wet, there are no sunbeds so you need to use beach towels but I would recommend that you take some form of ground sheet/waterproof mat to go under your beach towel.
Very well stocked shop on site, and a supermarket, Carefour about 5/10 minute drive away.
We recommend a day out at the waterpark 10 minutes down the road, Auqaland but take a picnic.
Great evening entertainment, arrive early 3/4 of an hour to get seat!

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at La Sirene as part of a camping holiday in France. After booking our holiday (with Canvas) I had become increasingly worried about some of the reviews I read but was happy to find that from our part the fears were not founded. The site is quite large but away from the pool/bar/shop area it is amazingly quite and our emplacement had a lovely mixture of shade and sun and we could watch the red squirrels in the trees overhead or glimpse the mountains through the trees. The site offers a lot of free activities but besides using the pool and watching the entertainment we did not really try these out the mini golf and archery looked good but I could not have been inticed into the pool at 9.00 am for the Aqua aerobic or Zumba as the pool was cold although nice once you were in during the heat of the day it was the getting in that took time!

When we first arrived on site first impressions were not great as the entrance and main buildings look a bit dated and we were put in a mobile in a busy area of the site just behind the swimming pool and on one of the main paths so noisy day and night, however, the Canvas couriers were helpful and arranged for us to move to another part of the site when a mobile became available so this was not a problem but it is certainly worth checking with whoever you travel with that you are in an apporpriate part of the park for the type holiday you want.

I read in other reviews about how busy the entrance/exit was with cars and I could see what people meant but as our children are older we did not have any worries about them not being aware of the problem of cars in that area it could be improved though it would be nice not to be looking out for cars all the time when popping to the pool or shops.

All the staff we encountered on the site from the reception to the shop, bar and restaurant were very nice and friendly in particular the bar staff went out of their way to engage in conversation and made it a nice experience to have a drink as the actual bar area is a bit drab. The pool bar is nice and cheaper than the other bar but in general drinks are very expensive but the food etc seemed to be on a par with other sites we visited. You could also use the bar and pool at the Hippocampe site across the road if you wanted somewhere less busy.

The local area is very interesting and the town center ot Argeles ( not to be confused with the center by the beach) is a lovely place to wander around with some lovely buildings etc, try to visit on a market day and it is really bustling with many bars and cafes to try out we walked from the center down to the beach area but this takes quite a long time particularily when hot, the area close to the beach has a different feel more of a seaside town with shops which all seem to sell the same type of things this area is not nearly as nice as the center but the evening Artisans market is worth a visit here and the beach is lovely, huge never crowded and with great views of the mountains. A few minutes walk down the road from the campsite are some Caves where you can buy the local wine from the vat and lovely local produce so these are worth a visit. There are so many places to visit by car within the area that you could stay for much longer than we did and still have much more to do.

In general we found this to be a nice friendly site which was kept clean and well maintaned and the local area offered some real gems and if you visit and find yourself in a part of the site that is too busy or too quite we found the staff more than willing to try to meet any requests we had. I would like to visit the area again and we would be happy to go back to the site especailly now we know what areas we particularily like and would request.

Have just came back from a great 3 wk break in La Sirene. I was impressed by the beautiful shady surroundings and friendly atmosphere. We booked with Canvas who were absolutely amazing-Super kids clubs, family days and lovely reps- definitely will go again with them next year. The entertainment at night was by bfar the highlight foe me- big west end shows like mamma mia, grease etc all in french of course but songs in english. Our mobile home was pure luxury and we had a lovely location. Mini-golf nad archery are free activities which we enjoyed. Bastille day was so much fun we even entered the 'decorate your bike competition' lol. The only problem for me is the cars my daughter almost got run over by a huge 4X4 when she ran out to get a ball. I feel the campsite needs to address this problem. Also the pool complex while beautiful is absolutely freeZing evem in very hot weather. I feel the site needs to heat the pool to make it more enjoyable. All in all I would reccommend the site.

I have stayed in several campsites and this place was dreadful. Stay away! We went here on our 10th campsite holiday. It was packed, no room to move and mobile was overlooked from all directions. Very little space around the mobile. Not safe, narrow roads - definitely not safe for children. Overpriced, a total rip off. So noisy at night-time. Biggest issue was that the staff are rude and aggressive, particularly to children in the shops. My daughter purchased a baguette and picked up a small paper bag... the staff pulled it from her while knocking her purse. The pool was dreadful...no visibility of children in pool since hidden behind concrete jungle walls and freezing in July!! Rough surface surrounding the pool where you were no allowed to wear flip-flops. The website does not show the real site. Everyone we met during our stay had same opinion and would never return. Queues getting into campsite at the weekend. I would struggle to rate this as high as a 2 stars.

Room Tip: Be careful when choosing a campsite in this area. There are many excellent campsites

We booked direct with La Sirene campsite and opted for the newly decroated Cottage 3 for 2 adults and 3 kids. Great accommodation with two bathrooms and gas bbq, really close to swimming pool and shops. The pool area is perfect, loads of slides for the kids, plus an area deep enough to dive and swim properly in and toddler pool and play area for smaller ones. We expected our kids (10 and 13) to want to go to kids' clubs, but they didn't. Though most holiday homes seemed occupied it never seemed too crowded - there was always room by the pool, though we did make sure we got there when it opened. There are no sun loungers so pack your own - essential! We always found spaces on archery (excellent), tennis courts and crazy golf when we required it. Loads to do, plus free half hour windsurfing every day on nearby beach - tip, pay for a lesson first otherwise you won't know what you're doing! The resort shop is reasonably priced and there's a big Carrefour five minutes drive away (the attached Crescendo buffet cafe there is lovely and excellent value). The nightly shows are also of surprisingly good quality - we saw Lion King, Chicago and Ederlezy, all really good. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Book direct if you can live without kids' clubs

La Sirene has a serious problem with the attitude of its staff towards holiday makers and it has only gotten worse over the last few years. This year I had to complain about their security man handling my children and using foul and abusive language towards them, I was not alone doing this, several other people also complained including one serious complaint about a teenage girl being violently pushed and reduced to tears by a security guard. The Reps and the customers are treated with absolute disdain by reception staff who have no concept of customer service. Why the site has a 5 star rating i'll never know, it has the same facilities it had 10 years ago despite doubling in size. The basics such as baby changing facilities in the bar/ restaurant/terrace/stage are are sadly absent and the ridiculous situation of forcing all the outbound cars past the pool entrance, shop, bar, takeaway and reception when there are thousands of kids milling about the area is frankly ridiculous.
Together with several other families we have decided, after several visits, NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN

We have just spent 3 weeks at this site on a family holiday with a 12 year old, 10 year old, 4 year old and 3 year old. We booked with Canvas who were fantastic in every way.

Our mobile home was actually owned by the camp site and was top class, very very modern spacious and clean. The mobile was on ground level and the decking was more spacious than we have experienced before. We chose to rent the largest home available and it was on a very private site. The gardens were well maintained and very pretty. Our particular site was very shady and not suitable for sun bathing, but Canvas are very helpful prior to booking regarding requests.

The canvas kids club and extra activities are fantastic, our children have real happy memories and a had a wide range of experiences here. The kids clubs are situated at the back of the site far away from the pool. They are beside the park which is good but not fenced in.

The camp site is situated on a very busy road alongside many other campsites. The entrance to La Sirene is a bit of a disappointtment and a nightmare for drivers, who have to turn through a narrow entrance alongside pedestrians, cyclists, shops, restaurant , pool entrance etc. This area really lets La Sirene down. Its busy and dangerous for young children and very near an open entrance to the main road, with chewing gum stuck all over the paving.

The bar / coffee area is uncomfortableand uninviting and has a concrete floor and metal chairs. This is very disappointing!! The areas real purpose is to put on stage excellent west end shows in french every few nights. These were fantastic!! Professional entertaining high quality shows from the Sypox theatre company. The Lion King was fantastic!! Standing ovation well earned last week!!
Unisex toilets at the back of bar area very off putting.

Our kids really enjoyed the pool area, security is strict which is fair enough but could be more friendly at times. While we were there inflatables were definitely not allowed in the pool. Though there was a great variety of slides and a jacuzzi. A Diving school was also available at pool. Toilet area at pool area needs to be monitored more for cleanliness and hand washing facilities not good enough, sometimes broken and no soap provided. However you must enter the area through a foot wash to maintain hygiene.
There are no sunbeds available so people use towels etc to sunbathe on.

Our kids went Kayaking on the Med with the Blue Bear company on site, they said it was a brilliant trip and well worth booking. Thay also did Mountain Biking witht the same company but with hindsight we think this trip is a bit dangerous for kids.

La Sirene s situation means there are also loads activities to do off site with Lunar park nearby and a regular train into Argeles sur mer, a typical seaside town. There are also miles of beautifuls beaches and loads to explore inland throught he beautiful pyranees.
