“Clean, basic seaside hotel”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Clean, plain hotel well placed at the quieter end of town (but not far from plenty of bars restaurants etc.) just across from the lovely beach. Friendly helpful staff and free secure parking. Arrive early for breakfast as food runs out very quickly and is not replenished. Fine as a sleep factory and for a cheapish, no-frills, no-effort-required start to the holiday. The North beach, a 5 min drive or half hour walk, is much quieter.

Really good location at the quiet north end of Argeles sur Mer. Its right next to a narrow pine forest -- with sea and mountain views and a pool with shady areas for lounging. Spotless if plain rooms but with good beds and quiet air-conditioning. Try to get a room on the upper floors with a balcony -- the poolside view isnt much to write home about. Friendly staff, very generous breakfast -- great value in a sought-after area if you book an online deal where breakfast is included. Reliable free wi-fi in the residents lounge but unfortunately nowhere else. Somewhat bland decor typical of a seasonal Spanish hotel ( its not so far from the Spanish border) What must once have been a pleasing ground floor bar restaurant and courtyard area was semi derelict and closed off (in July) so nowhere to sit with a drink apart from the small poolside bar or the dated residents lounge. But in season there are plenty of great food choices outside within a few minutes walk in either direction. Argeles seafront has much to recommend it, and even the central part manages (just) to stop short of tacky. The inland Argeles village is not worth the bother. Try Collouire -- if you can park!

Room Tip: Avoid smaller, pool-facing rooms

We stayed at the Hotel for four days in September and were delighted with the location as It is across from a beautiful quiet beach. We were pleased that it was not near the central beach which is a much busier and noisy area. The staff were pleasant and our rooms were cleaned and the towels changed daily. The room was spacious with a balcony and the hotel also has a very nice pool area. The breakfasts were excellent and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is to stay in argeles sur mer. We visited the village a few times and would recommend a visit to the chateau Vichy gardens nearby. The only negative thing was that we could not get wine in the hotel although they serve a few other drinks in the lounge. No big deal though as there is a bar across from the hotel!

Room Tip: go for the second or first floor

located right on the beach this is a nice family hotel. argeles- sur- mer is a quite beach town. this hotel has a restaurant, a pool and free parking right in front of the hotel. the food is decent and there are lot of eating option with in 3 to 4 min of walking distance. the rooms are basic and clean and many overlook the beach and have a nice balcony. there is a nice pub just a few steps from the hotel which comes alive in the evening. lots and lots of activities for kids near the hotel. value for money for around 60 euros.

Well, it really is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My own son had recommended Argeles as a delightfully quaint French village. To my wife, daughter, and me
a miniature golf course and a mini carnival does not equal rural bliss. The beach was OK as far as the Mediterranean goes, but there are hundreds of beaches better in the States and Mexico. The hotel itself is spare but the staff quite accommodating. All in all, a waste of time and money. Also, NO INTERNET. I realize that some people may consider this a blessing but others really do need to be connected.

The best thing about this hotel is that it's literally across the road from the beach, which is beautiful. The room was very spacious with loads of storage space, clean, and had a little balcony with a rack to dry swimwear etc.

Staff are friendly and polite, most of them speak excellent English.

Breakfast good value - self serve buffet with plenty of choice.

Even though the hotel is so close to the sea it still has a nice pool - very clean in a sheltered courtyard. Comes in handy if sea is occasionally a bit rough for swimming.

Can't say anything negative about this hotel and I would definitely come back again.

The Plage des Pins is a lovely medium sized hotel, located precisely halfway along the long main beach at Argeles. This resort is very popular with the French who descend on the area each August in hordes but the hotel is a peaceful oasis, next to a little protected pine forest . I guess the hotel has fifty rooms on its three floors. There is a very clean and well-maintained swimming pool in the rear gardens and from the front door of the hotel you are literally twenty metres from the wide sandy beach.

Breakfasts were delightful - such a large buffet spread and I always think that linen as opposed to paper serviettes say a lot about a hotel's view of itself. The rooms were spacious and clean. Some look out towards the beach and the sea but ours (Room 48) looked over the pool at the rear and the Pyrenees beyond. There was a residents' TV room and a pleasant lounge area with leather sofas and a balcony looking towards the plage.

There are some excellent dining opportunities in Argeles and I would thoroughly recommend the nearby Logis de France restaurant - Les Charmettes for an exquisite and lovingly prepared demonstration of why French cuisine is so special. A drive along the coast road takes you to Banyuls and Collioure and the Spanish border with marvellous vistas out over the Mediterranean.

Service and cleanliness at the Plage des Pins were both excellent and the hotel has its own car park just across the road - you pay 20 euros deposit for a magnetic key to lift the barrier.

  • Liked — The location and the cleanliness.
  • Disliked — Room 48 had a tiny balcony but other rooms were better endowed.
