We were staying across the road from the restaurant and being British seen a queue and decided to join it, really wished we hadn't.

The food was the plainest and least inventive we ate the whole time we were in Paris.

After trying to translate the French menu for 10 minutes the girls we were squashed in next to helped us out and we were able to pick some dishes, i ordered prawns for starter and lamb for main. The prawns were literally plain prawns with no seasoning at all and a tub of mayonnaise on the side! The lamb was chewy and also very bland.

The waiter was a friendly guy, however he was so busy that he could barely take our order while running past the table.

All in all i would not recommend this place to anyone.

We had to queue up for around an hour in the rain and were let in after that. The place was well decorated and for sure busy!!!!
We shared a table with a couple who seemed to be frequent visitors of the place and were happy to queue up every time and hence shows the place must have some credibility.
We had a menu in French which of course we did not have a clue about and recommend people to actually translate the menu from the website before actually going there.
Our food was good and well cooked and were pleased about the outcome in the end!!!!!!

I swear we saw a female waitress in that male gastronomic bastion of the old post office. Times change but at least the lively ambience and reliable fare with its Alsatian bias do not. Time was when guide books raved about a place where you could get eggs mayonnaise followed by sauerkraut, Frankfurter, sausage and a thick slice of ham or a frizzy salad with lardons and a confit of duck at a price fit for a student but it's old hat now. Still, if you want a good, cheap, quick lunch there's no substitute for this democratic old stager.

This place was recommended by a friend who used to live in Paris so we really did want to visit. It was a cold, damp day & after hours on an open top bus we decided to have a mid afternoon meal. There was no queue & it wasn't very busy. The waiters were very attentive & dressed wonderfully, it added to the overall ambience which was just wonderful. The food was very good & what value! The building & decor is wonderful & as someone has previously mentioned this restaurant is more than the food, it's the atmosphere........ Just wonderful. We would recommend & visit again on our next trip to Paris.
