Kind of like a French Hampton Inn, but maybe a little more downmarket. Should be just fine if you are not looking for anything fancy. While the breakfast buffet is quite good, we had trouble with the staff about whether it was included in the price. Each day we asked if it was included, and each staffer said yes. However, at bill paying time, they charged us for it (13 Euros each). We should have asked for a receipt each time to clear up their confusion.

Spent one night there, upon arrival you notice quickly that it needs work. Carpets in lobby are simply nasty. The air conditioning works in the lobby and halls, but not in the rooms. I called to ask how to turn it down and they acted like it was very cold already. Later I was in the lobby and a family was checking out and demanded a refund because of this. We didnt sleep good at all because of the heat. There are lots of hotels in the area, I suggest you avoid this one. Staff was nice, however didn't have the authority to change things. The managers name was mr bonoro

If you are visiting Paris on a budget, this is a good option, particularly if you have a young family.

The positives:
1. Well appointed rooms with LCD TV, mini bar, pull out sofa bed, shower & bath, safe, hairdryer
2. Kids stay free in rooms and get a very good (free) buffet breakfast
3. Quiet location
4. Underground parking (11 Euros a day).

The negatives:
1. It's probably just Versailles / the suburbs, but the hotel is very quiet - we were there over new year and the bar wasn't even open when we got back from Paris at 10pm in the evening, so if you are planning to party at the Novotel, think again, and stay out in Paris ;-)
2. It's a good 15 minute walk from the Rive Gauche RER station that takes you into the centre of Paris. If you have young kids, it's a long walk! However, there is a huge McDonalds opposite the RER station which is a good incentive for the kids to walk.
3. There are a lot of dog turds in the grass along Rue du Roi that heads up towards the Chateau - be careful where you walk!

Enjoy!

The Novotel offers a fairly basic accomodation, perfect for a visit to the Palace of Versailles. Its about ten minutes walk to the palace entrance...nice restaurants nearby...highly recommended.
Hotel has pay-wifi and pay-parking.
