“Great Value, no problems”
Reviewed April 3, 2012

Stayed here for 1 night in April 2012. Located about 10 mins Walk from RER station in good neighbourhood. A fair number of British Students (school trip to discover the joys of Paris I guess) in reception at Midnight drinking and chatting but didnt hear any noise in the night. Reception busy taking drinks orders but checked me in pretty quickly.
Room was pretty small but everything worked fine, good shower, if you have a big suitcase you wouldnt have anywhere to leave it open. Breakfast was good (€9), just continental.
Faced with staying here again or the Novotel Suites which is 5 mins away (which was double the price) I would stay here.

Room Tip: *28 and *29 at end of corridor and quiet.

Clean and adequate but one of the smallest and most basic rooms I have stayed in. I would rate it less than a UK Travel Lodge. OK for single business users but limited facilities for couples. I initially booked two nights online but then called to extend the stay to an additional night. On arrival, the additional night was not booked and I had to pay the maximum rate for the additional night which was not worth the money. For people wanting to travel by underground, beware; not all trains stop at Issy so worth checking beforehand.

This is a good hotel, if you are searching for enough quality to have a decent place to stay, but don't want to pay some of Paris' high prices. It is comparable to the US "Holiday Inn" chain, except rooms are definitely smaller -- as is the standard throughout Paris. The location is great, about a 5 minute walk from a major tram line that take you to a central train station. They also have a convenient, wide-variety and reasonably priced buffet breakfast on the first floor. No free continental breakfasts as in the USA, but Dorothy, you are not in Kansas anymore! You're in the city that created some of the world's finest art, food, and culture. Take a "History of Western Civilization" and "Art History" class before you come and you will appreciate it so much more, even with a small but adequate hotel room without freebies. If you want a room comparable to American hotel rooms, then request the handicapped accessible room in the corner (5th floor, but maybe on others, too) -- it is by far the most comfortable room in the hotel that I experienced. (I stayed a week, saw 3 rooms.)

Decor is modern and standard, elevators run (small by US standards, and they don't automatically have a sensor if your suitcase is in the door). Just enough towels, small flat-screen TV in each room. Closet is small, 5 hangers supplied, you'll have to fold your clothes. I don't recall a bathtub, but the showers were fine, with very good pressure (one room had scalding hot, then cool water, depending on what neighbor guest was flushing -- I complained and was relocated). The people at the front desk were always accommodating and helpful, answering a myriad number of questions, with excellent English skills. Anything I needed, they made efforts to assist. In fact, they assisted big-time when I encountered the only real problem I had during the week I stayed there.

So, nice and adequate room for the price, delicious breakfast, and kind and caring front desk staff. Just what wasn't great? MY MEDICATION WAS STOLEN FROM MY ROOM! Unfortunately, it was an anti-depressant, and within a few days, I was crying, grieving a loved one, staying in till 1:00 p.m.and missing out on all the things I could have seen in Paris. I tried to refill at a pharmacy, but the price was about 6 times the cost of the USA price, and I only needed one weeks worth, until my return trip.

So, what happened when I told the staff? They were quite helpful and offered to pay for the refill. Because I only needed one week's worth, the manager compensated me with one free nights stay! For me, this was as much or more than I could have expected, and it was the best that could be done for the inconvenience. (Pharmacist informed that there is a black market in France for drugs.) No, this is not Hotel Ibis's fault; this is something in the culture (?), it could happen at any Paris hotel. They are not able to do background checks before hiring, and with the money that can be made, apparently, it is an unfortunate part of being a tourist (trains have skilled pick-pocket people, too). For whatever it is worth, hide not only your jewelry, but your medications in the safe that is located in your room. (I naively thought I didn't need it, until this incident.) Outside of this unfortunate incident that could have been avoided with the use of the individual room safe, I recommend this hotel for those who want an economical, adequate hotel with good service, food, and location. And, hotel staff who are reading this review -- please directly inform guests when they check in, saying, "I recommend you use your room safe for your jewelry, medication, and other valuables"

Room Tip: Ask for a handicapped accessible room if you want a larger room, more like USA size -- but have the...

Staff was helpful with minor maint, providing coffee and directions. Spoke English well and were friendly. Room was clean. Hotel was not far from tube but far from downtown-a 30min ride to town.

Room Tip: Get to breakfast early!

Dinner was average, french fries were well done, could be better .Bad room isolation, thereby, somewhat restless sleep. Service at reception was really helpfull. Room was basic but ok. As it was not far from the exhibition the location was perfect.

We stayed for one night and my impressions are: staff are relatively helpful to a point (maybe this depends on language barriers), rooms are clean and large compared to other Paris hotels, location is quite isolated and the walk to the metro is described as 'easy 5 min walk', but we got hopelessly lost and it took much longer. The shoe cleaning machine was a novelty and much used to remove Paris dust. The internet provided in foyer is welcome (only one terminal though). The breakfast will go down in our holiday history as one of most badly organised 'Faulty Towers' moments we have ever witnessed - nodding staff bustling to and fro but not doing anything to clear tables or top up food, a total absence of plates and coffee mugs, insufficient food for the guests, total confusion, some guests in fits of laughter about the whole senario and others getting quite upset. I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again.
