Adagio Paris Porte de Versailles
Reviewed May 4, 2011

With a family of 5, and generally the need for more than one room, this hotel offered potentially good value for money. Plus as it was part of the Novotel group, so our expectation was for a reasonable quality. We did not plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel, but at the same time we had hoped for something a little better. We took photos of some of the areas of concern: a number of power sockets hanging out of walls ( we felt this was a little dangerous ), shower bracket hanging off wall ( waiting to fall on somebody's head) , plaster bubbling up in the shower room, TV not working in the bedroom, window blinds missing in the main area ( where we used the sofa bed ) so short of closing the curtains and having the room in darkness there was no privacy for changing during daylight hours. And of course the dead bird on one of the balconies of another room. It did seem a waste of time bringing all this to the attention of the local Adagio management in the hotel, since with so much wrong, they must have known and so either did not care or perhaps thought that this was good enough. So I called, I believe, the office of the chief operating officer for Accor Europe. They told me they were sympathetic and referred the matter back down. I got an e mail back from the local management - copied here:

"We are on receipt of your mail concerning the problem you had.
After checking, it appears that the maid who cleaned the appartement did'nt
inform the technical team of these problems. As there is no daily cleaning,
but only at the end of the stay, nobody came in your appartment.
The explanation is almost the same concerning the dead bird. If there is no
daily cleaning in the appartment, nobody check the balconies.
We are sorry for those inconvinient.
Best regards"

We were there for 4 nights not 4 months! So I referred back to the Higher level, and a few days later received a call ( which I missed ) at 17.30 one Friday afternoon. A few days later I received another call when my phone was switched off at 07.12 in the morning. Their message was for me to contact them to discuss. But no phone number or e mail address!

I will not make any further comment, some may think this is very bad others may think this is ok for a lower cost hotel - but whatever you think, be carefully you don't get a shock at your next Accor visit. Electric shock that is!

My son and I stayed here for a week while we did an intensive French course. The course wasn't very good but the accommodation was superb. It was clean, the staff were friendly, the location was great, close to the French school but also very close to a metro stop that went directly into the heart of Paris. I would highly recommend this hotel for families who want to cook for themselves who don't want to stay in the heart of Paris but have easy access to the centre of Paris.

We stayed for 3 weeks in a studio for 2 persons. We liked the kitchen that was very good equipped and you could do some minor cooking. Nice balcony with view to the inner garden. They also have some vending machines. Once a week it's cleaning day but you have a vacuum cleaner and an iron and iron board in the room. The personal it's not very helpful. We received the usual map with information after a week and a half from our arrival and they called us in the room to check if we were still there :-). The location is ok. It's in the south of Paris. One tram station away from the 12 line subway and the tramway it's right outside. 5 minutes walking form some restaurants and a mini-market. You also have a velibo station were you can take bikes.

I traveled with large student group (41) to Paris. Originally we were to stay out by La Defense and were changed to this hotel last minute. Thank goodness as the location was much more convenient for us.

With my small group of 9, we arrived quite early (8am) and the hotel allowed us to put all of our luggage into one room for safe keeping. The rest of the group was arriving later than night. Upon our return from touring about the city, we were given the keys to our rooms. Rather than a key card, we were provided with an actual key. This proved to be quite inconvenient as we were only issued one key so between my roommate and I always had to coordinate our arrivals and departures.

The room was quite large for the two of us - probably one of the larger 2 person rooms. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke when I first entered but that eventually disappeared during our week long stay. There was a fridge, microwave, coffee machine and dishwashing machine. We didn't cook in the room but it would have been convenient. Though we weren't fortunate, a number of rooms had a view of the Eiffel Tower.

The rooms were quite quiet. Apparently there was a party down the hall and I didn't hear it at all. The beds were comfy.

Since it wasn't a hotel but an apartment hotel, we didn't expect maid or turn down service but everyday we returned from a day of touring to our beds made and new towels. A nice surprise.

We were alloted a breakfast time which we had to strictly abide with or face being scolded by the hotel staff. At breakfast they provided baguettes, croissants (plain and sweet), cheese, eggs, apples, oranges, deli meats, yogurt, and cereal. For a continental breakfast, it was a pretty good spread. Better than most hotels I've visited. They have an illogical system for clearing the tables - rather than a bus boy cart, they carry everything by hand. It seems so inefficient and backs up the tables quickly.

The hotel was very close to the metro which was great (Line 12, Porte de Versailles). There weren't too many shops or restaurants around the hotel. It was a very business oriented location with the convention centre across the road and a number of media research companies near by. Not very touristy.

This is a modern clean apartment type residence. We had 3 couples in a 2 bedroom + pull out in the living room. It also came w/ 2 showers/bath, with one toilet in a separate room which helped out immensely. The rooms are small (hey this IS Paris) but more than adequate for us. We even requested a balcony and got one!! It also has air conditioning which is very helpful if it gets hot in Paris. You are way out of the "city" limits where most of the tourist things happen, but the Metro is truly just a 10 minutes easy walk and we could get to the center of the city in 20 minutes.
At night it was nice to leave the hustle, bustle and noise of the city behind and come back to a very quiet neighborhood to sleep.
All in all, we found our experience to be great at this place and would highly recommend it.

We have owned a timeshare studio in this block since 1981 and have used our week in April every year since. So 2004 was our 24th consecutive visit. In 2002 we purchased a second week, in January. Thus we have used this 3 times. The block has remarkably stood the test of time, with furniture and fittings still looking reasonably good after more than 20 years use by a variety of owners and guests. Much of the block is used for serviced appartments on short lets, as in an hotel, so you can rent studios for 2 or 4 people either by the night or longer periods. There is a small breakfast room, but basically this is self-catering accommodation. It is near the 39 bus into central Paris, and mid-way between the metro stations of Balard and Porte de Versailles, so there is a choice of metro lines into Paris - about a 20 minutes journey in either case. The road is right on the south west boundary of Paris, near one of the two main exhibition centres in Paris. The area can get VERY busy during exhibition periods. The neighbouring commune is the up and coming Issy les Moulineaux
