“A real Japanese restaurant in Boulogne.”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

This is a great place if you like raw fish prepared by real japanese experts. However VERY small and few tables IN fact these japanese have one very small place in Edouard Vaillant and another place bigger in Boulogne called Shiki.

“We wanted to like it but something was short of the mark”
Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

This place certainly had the feel of places we used to frequent when we lived in Japan. Good service &ambiance. We both ordered the sushi/maki menu. Our "salad" of smoked fish and vegetables seasoned with a light dressing was perfect...our hearts started to rise...next came the miso soup- it was delicate, but with just the right depth of flavor- so often, the miso soup in Japanese restaurants is a throw away. My husband & I looked at each other and said, "oh boy, maybe we've finally found a good Japanese restaurant in Boulogne!" Alas, our plate of sushi and maki came ; we silently ate, trying not to "ruin" each-other's experience by complaining. In the end,Im afraid my husband and i both agreed- something just wasn't quite right. The rice was the correct texture and temp, but there wasn't enough seasoning ( we usually find your avg Chinese sushi chef over seasons his rice or uses something sacrilegious like basmati rice!) The fish itself didn't seem to have much flavor- we weren't sure if was the combination of the bland soy sauce & under seasoned rice didn't bring out the flavor of the fish or if it was the over-abundance of wasabi seasoning that masked the flavor of the fish. We're sorry to say this, but things just didn't gel. We decided to split an order of grilled sardines which were perfect- flavorful and moist.
It's no pricier than any of your high end Japanese/authentic restaurants in Paris. I might give them another try and order something else, but then again, maybe I won't.

“good quality, but very expensive”
Reviewed July 4, 2010

we looked at the reviews from tripadvisor and decided to go to the authentic Japanese restaurant. All the staff in the small restaurant were Japanese. and they servce authentic Sushi, sashimi, and others (mainly sea food).
the quality is very good, however, considering the location and restaurant's atmosphere and how much we spend (almost 100 euro for Sushi, Tempra, and small dishes, sharing by two people), they are rather over priced. but of course, comparing the other Japanese restaurants in Paris by non-Japanese chefs, the quality of the food is good.
they charge Edamame (beans) 8.5 euro which is twice as much as London Japanese restaurants and of course, 6-7 times in Japan.
