“Pleasant stay, helpful staff”
Reviewed September 21, 2011

My wife and I and her parents stayed here for 4 nights in 2 rooms, a regular and a 'superior'.
First of all check-in. This took place at the reception desk of the neighbouring Mercure Paris Porte de St. Cloud. Adele was pleasant, polite, helpful and spoke excellent English. We found this to be true of most of the reception staff, particularly Elodie, with whom I dealt the most. The rooms, which they call apartments - a bit of an overstatement - differed in size and in that the superior room had a bathtub whereas the regular room had only a shower. The rooms were bright and clean and were generally as expected. Le Scenarios new policy is that for short stays, the room is cleaned daily; for longer stays, weekly. The beds were comfortable enough and we slept fairly well. It is a quiet neighbourhood, so we were not disturbed by outside noise. We took the Express Breakfast in the bar each morning - juice, coffee end 2 brioches or mini-mini-baguettes for 7 euros. A hot/cold buffet breakfast was available in the restaurant for about 17 euros. We ate out in the evening, the hotel restaurant being a bit pricey. There is a restaurant next door which we ate at once. The foood and service was fine, but the place being otherwise empty, it lacked ambience. The nearest Metro stop is 5-10 minutes walk away. It's a nice neighbourhood so we were quite comfortable walking day or night. The are a few restaurants near the Metro station, one of which, Le Cardinal, was recommended by Adele, and at which we had 3 meals. We were generally happy with the food, service and price. The menu is online at http://www.lecardinalparis.com/
As we checked out, they also recommended the River Cafe, a restaurant in a boat, by the Pont d'Issy.
The Metro ride from Porte de St Cloud is about 20 minutes to Franklin D Roosevelt, which is about halfway down the Champs Elysees.
Suggestions to the hotel:
1) provide some kitchen towel & spray cleaner for the kitchen
2) have at least a limited number of kettles available on demand, if not in each room, Boiling water in a pan or in the microwave is not ideal.
We decided to try staying out side central Paris because of the lower cost and to avoid the noise of the city, particularly overnight. This hotel met those goals. I would recommend it.

There are two Mercure hotels in the quiet Place Rene Clair: this one- the Residence Mercure Le Scenario- and the main Mercure where you check in and can take breakfast etc.

The room was described as an "apartment", though it was more like a regular hotel room with a small kitchenette containing hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, crockery and cutlery. Being an apartment, I was slightly in doubt whether the room would be serviced each day, but it was.

The room was very good, fully meeting my main requirements of being clean and modern. It contained a small table, two chairs, flat-screen TV, electronic safe, and a very comfortable double-bed. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was good. The hotel also offers free Internet wifi.

The hotel is decently located, about eight minutes walk from Porte St Cloud Metro, and about twelve minutes from Issy Val de Seine Tram and RER station just across the river. Beware when using the RER though: although it's in zone 2, the same as the Metro station, you have to pay extra if using a carnet or Zone 1-2 Mobilis ticket- I don't quite get this aspect of the transport pricing system.

Although it may appear to be quite far from the central area, it's actually pretty convenient for the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Palais de Versailles.

The area itself is good: it felt safe, and there was a reasonable selection of bars, restaurants, bakeries and other independent food retailers, plus two small supermarkets, one being Lidl.

Would I stay again? Yes I would...

We stayed in his hotel for 5 nights and initially thought that we have got a steal for 110 euro prepaid/non refundable rate. The location is far but the metro is a 5 min walk and one can be in central city in 25 mins. This made us ignore things like smelly corridors, 2 defective lights not being changed for 2 days despite reminders etc. However on our last night we learnt that the lift had broken down and we would need to walk up 8 floors. This can happen anywhere so we took it in our stride but pointed out that we were checking out early next morning. The lift was not repaired however even after 12 hours and when I asked for help to get my luggage down ( I was on a 33 day Europe trip with my wife and with heavy luggage), I was told rudely that they could not assist as that is not part of their duty. I took 3 return trips to get all the luggage down myself and I saw three of the staff standing at the reception (it wasn't a case of leaving the reception unmanned). I asked the manager at the reception if I could get his name so I could give some feedback to the hotel to which he plainly refused saying that he will not tell me ! By now the situation was pretty tragi-comical and we had a train to catch and this day was also my birthday so we just got out of there. I haven't really seen outright hostility in the hospitality industry ever. I would advise you to be aware of the service element, apart from that I think the price was not too bad , unfortunately it came with non existent service

The apartments are nice, the area is quiet, air conditioning is working. All looks pretty recent and clean. For me the mattress was a little bit too hard, but not bad. The hotel is adjacent to the Mercure hotel (and you do check-in there), and even if not inside of Paris, the Porte de Saint Cloud tube & bus station is just 10 minutes walking distance, or bus 189 brings you to the RER C (yuck!) or T2 lightrail in 5 minutes.

My main grief is regarding the Internet access, which is free as stated, but it does not fit all kind of business used. Their provider is Orange and they have a very personal idea of what the Internet is: so you get undesired filters, you only have an expiring session (6 hours) and they do heavy traffic shaping, so VoIP does not work at all. On night time they lack capacity and the network is really slow.

Restaurant: I haven't tried their breakfast, no way I'm going to pay the asking price for a buffer, regardless on how good it is. Paris is full on good places to take some pastries.

TV: Digital TV with french free to air channels, Canal+ and a few extras. Also includes CNN, BBC World news and a few other international channels.

We stayed here for three nights - five of us...all adult size and we were well accommodated. The bathroom was fantastic and our rooms were cleaned every day with new towels supplied each day. The walk to the Metro from where you could get out at the Trocadero with a view over the Tour d'Effeil was an easy stroll and there were some really nice bakers and a little supermarket on the corner. We did not eat in the hotel at all, instead choosing to go out buy our own from the bakery nearby...In the kitchenette there were Villery and Boch plates, pasta bowls and cutlery including a bread knife and a wooden spoon. However, there was only one saucepan which you had to use for heating water for drinks as there was not stove top kettle - if we went again we would take our own stove top kettle...We also had to go out and buy some dishwasher tablets - we left our box there for the next person...you need your own washing up liquid, cloths etc...However we did manage to cook a spaghetti bolognese, which actually was quite fun to do...even with one saucepan. The first visit is always strange - it was hard to find the entrance to the private car park, and the ceiling height was very low - we had a roof box on a small car and just about managed - if you had a higher car with a roof box you would struggle - we had just returned from camping holiday in Brittany. However we found the staff corteous and thought the price was excellent for what was on offer...there was no view from the balcony...there was lovely cotton sheets and the decor was very modern...all in all we were extremely happy with our choice. It was quiet at night. For five people it was the best choice to help save money on a budget as we were able to self cater - we took picnics with us including drinks as they are so expensive, and cooked for ourselves and only ate out once...lots of activities are free in Paris and we were surpised how entrance was free for all european citizens under 26, but they needed to show their passport...we had a lovely time...we would come back...

Room Tip: bring a stove top kettle and some dishwasher tablets.

We stayed here whilst visiting family nearby. It was definately good value for money. We had a small studio apartment with a tiny kitchen area. The bathroom was huge and very smart, and the bedroom area and balcony were fine. You could re-heat food and make drinks in the kitchen but it was too small to do anything more.

The decor in the aparthotel was modern and fresh. There was a carpark in front of the hotel however parking on street was easy and free in August. Hard to fault this modern aparthotel, especially if you get a bargain price by booking direct.

Nice 2 room apartment with a kitchen that had the necessities (small desk stove, micro, fridge with small freezer, dishwasher, plates etc).

The grown-ups had the proper bedroom with a doublebed that was ok. The children used the convertible bed-sofas in the larger room. Since one of the three bed-sofas were a double, that room could actually take four people (don't know if it is bookable like that though). Each room had TV and AC.

Very nice people at the reception, always friendly, helpful and service minded.

Room was not made at all for the whole week!! That was both surprising and disturbing, but we managed on our own with minimal effort. Last night the dishwasher broke down. Last morning electricity was gone. Since we were on our way, I can't tell whether this would have been an issue, or if the hotel would have these things fixed quickly.

The flat was at the 6th floor. Some kind of security features for the windows and the balcony door could be useful for families with small children.

Notwithstanding the hassle, we would go there again.

If you go there - use the metro rather than the RER, it's quite a walk from the RER (and a bit hard to find).
