“American-Standard Hotel in Paris Suburb”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

The Courtyard was your typical Marriott Courtyard-just in Paris. I will have to say, after living in Europe, it is nice to have nice American mattresses, air conditioning and lovely, neutral decor! The hotel is NOT really central to seeing the Paris sites, but what an incredible value!

Alicia at the front desk was very friendly & helpful. She made restaurant reservations for us, printed out the voucher for our sightseeing trip, took care of the late check-out and gave us recommendations for a nice lunch.

Our Platinum status didn't really do much for us at the hotel other than the arrival gift, free internet, and 20% off food/drink. But we were still pleased with the value.

You will find that the restaurants & shops nearby are not used to tourists and English menus were unavailable. Actually I enjoyed that as a more local experience!

We walked home from dinner after 10pm and felt safe on the street. The suburb was not as upscale as I was expecting, but definitely nice.

Last, the rooftop bar was not open but we bought 2 bottles of wine and enjoyed the view. You really can see 2/3rds of the Eiffel Tower in the distance - the very far distance. A nice touch was that the base of the cafe tables on the rooftop were plugged in to a heat source. Very cool! Several other guests had the same idea. Wink.

While the hotel was clean, it was extremely basic, everything you get you have to pay for. The mini bar was empty (which was frustrating late at night when you just want some water), the TV didn't work and the wifi wouldn't let me in for 30 mins as there were "too many users!.

The staff was wonderful. They all went out of their way to make us feel right at home. Every single time, i spoke with someone, either in the restaurant or front desk, it was if i was the first guest.
Also, i loved the location, only a 15 min bus ride from the Eiffel tower, any many more attractions. a mini-mart a one block down to buy groceries. The washroom was spacious and the room was clean. once again, the employees were great!

This was my second time around at this hotel on business located in nearby St Cloud. The main reason we went there was because it was the Marriot chain and close to where we were working.

Overall the service was good and courteous. The rooms are large compared to Paris standards so if you are not too picky on the location and want to make sure you don't have to deal with small rooms, then this is the place.

The beds come in all sizes and are very comfortable.

The washrooms were also big and immaculate. I had a bath with a shower head, however some of my co-workers unexpectedly only had a shower. So make sure you ask for the bath if thats what you wish for. The room comes fully equipped with an ironing board and a safe. However there is no mini bar but a very good cold small fridge which they encourage you to use, which I did (can hold 3 bottles of wine sideways plus food :)

The room itself was very well serviced and very clean as per Marriot standards.

The breakfast is expensive 18 Euros or you can ask for the continental breakfast near the bar which goes for around 9-10 Euros. Although the breakfast is good, I didn"t think it was worth 18 Euros. Many of us eventually went to the local Bistros within one or two street blocks and almost got the same breakfast for a fraction of the price. Coffee everywhere was excellent! Travel tip to first time travellers to France...if you ask for a coffee (cafe) you will get an expresso (absolutely delicious) if you would like a coffee Canada/USA style then you must ask for an American coffee :)! (Cafe Americain)

There is a bar and the service is good and friendly. It is a bit tricky to get a waiter during the day as the waiter also works out of the restaurant or somewhere else during the day. However the front desk will get you somebody. On two occasions we picked up items from the local food marts and the hotel staff allowed us to use there 1st floor terrace for a "picnic". They allowed us to bring our own wine vs having to buy from the bar servicing the terrace..which was very appreciated.

I would say that the only real negative thing about the room is the lack of consistent air conditioning. Fully on... the best we could get was 23 C which was too warm for a few of us to sleep in. But more often than not it was closer to 25.5 C. We never could find out what the real reason was!

From a location perspective, you are not in the heart of Paris but there are two metro stations within a few blocks (Metro Line 10 if you go on internet and check the Paris Metro map. The hotel is located between the 2nd and 3rd stations, away from the last station on line 10) .... and when you are in Paris the Metro is the way too go! The Metro station is a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. The Metro then takes you pretty well anywhere you wish to go within 30 mins. Once on the Metro, it's about 20 mins from the Eiffel Tower, Arche de Triomphe, and Champs Elysees...and about 30 mins to the station that takes you to Notre Dame Cathedral (La Sorbonne station). Also within a block or two you have everything you need, food markets, Bistros, local bread and pastry shops, chocolate shops...its all there and an amazing variety of good foods and interesting discoveries.

Point to note its about 65-75 Euros to grab a cab from the Airport to the hotel. They use a highway that circumvents the city. Also the front desk can help you order a cab.

This hotel is located in a very safe and lighted area. We often came from downtown past 11-12 at nite (from the Metro) and not once felt the slightest reason to be concerned.

I recommend this hotel for tourists (including children) and business travellers who are not picky about having a hotel in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower and would like to live out of a typical Paris suburb.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a bath if thats what you want, otherwise you may get a room that only has a sh...

Thanks ,to everyone at this wonderful marriott courtyard. The staff was very helpful ,courteous , and they definitely added to our visit. The hotel was also excellent. It was very clean and comfortable with free wi fi and AC. We choose to take the busses instead of the metro , and it was very easy. I was very happy to enjoy a quiet night after a busy day. I requested a courtyard room; very quiet. The local restaurants offered yummy dinners. All in all an excellent choice.

Room size, excellent, staff delightful, decor clean and appealing. Breakfast buffet - included in room price - has quite a selection.

Other things I loved: not having to figure out which way to insert the room key when the arrow is so small or color-blended that it's impossible. The keys here are just laid against the lock. My room had a balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard (until a reception one evening). I think the rooms 111, 115, 117 and perhaps a few others on the first floor (not ground floor) have balconies. Worth asking. The air conditioning is superb. Big glass shower with adjustable height for shower head.

Instead of the Metro which I have used in past trips to Paris, on the recommendation of the front desk who handed out a map, I tried the bus #72 to get into and out of the center of Paris. It was clean, stops were well marked on the map and it was enjoyable to be above ground.

Staff recommended two restaurants. One I tried and loved (wrote a review: Les Huitres du Bonhomme). The other night I stayed in and had a delicious chicken and mushroom dish in the restaurant at the hotel.

There is a small park right across the street if you crave a bit of nature.

Room Tip: See the review for advice about balconies.

We spent a week in this wonderful hotel. I was told the rooms in Paris were very tiny....au contraire mon frere...our room was spacious fresh and well kept. the staff was extremely courteous, resourceful and very helpful. the bed was a little too firm for me, but perfect for my lady...The ladies and gents at the front desk made calls for us, gave us excellent advice and even gave us a few leftover bus tickets...it's the small things that count. I reccommend this hotel, we definitely got the best bang for the euro :-) bonne journée mes amis!

Room Tip: our room, 225 was well insulated from the noise, it was at the end of the hall...the washroom was bi...
