Had a junior suite which was reasonably furnished but a sort of unattractive tunnel shape. No non-French TV channels. Bed comfortable; bathroom clean. Restaurant was packed and food good quality but a bit unexciting. Secure parking but no video surveillance.. So a good stop over on the route down South...

We thought this was a three star rated hotel when we booked but were surprised to see its four star rating at the door. We were not disappointed. Others have described this hotel as modern and basic, in our opinion this was sparkling and stylish, nothing over the top but everything very well appointed and very clean, a stylish conversion of an historic tobacco factory. We stayed in a mezzanine suite which as a couple was spacious and comfortable, with TVs on each floor, shiny bathroom and second downstairs toilet, sofa and work space as well as balcony double bed. We booked for dinner and Antoine the chef delighted us with the set "Menu a la carte" for 29.50 Euros. Prawns with remoullade and apple served with tasty fried aromatic fish bites. To follow Dorade on Taboulet spiced with chorizo served with onion puree filled tomatoes. Then a wonderful cheeseboard and finally a smooth and sensuous vanilla creme brulee. The meal was washed down with a well priced local rose wine. The dining space lit by opaque panels of light that shifted their colour slowly throughout the meal was modern, yet restful and tasteful. The staff were well trained, friendly and attentive. A four star dining experience worth stopping in Chateauroux for - if you are making your way north or south and want an enjoyable "night in".

We stayed en route to South, hotel is in the old Best Western style, modern with nothing extra. Rooms not over big and bathrooms basic. No lounge area to speak of, good service for food but main course a little odd! You pay for parking, a good thing car was locked behind gates, where hotel is not really a place to walk around. Breakfast was good, but, it is really a business hotel.

I have been at the Colbert many times. No doubt the best accomodation in town.
Modern and clean. Some of the rooms are on two levels with lots of space. On the other hand a few are quite tiny.
The restaurant is not bad but if you don't choose the set menu of the day it can be a little expensive.
I suggest a little walk in the center where there is plenty of choice.

We stayed here recently whilst in transit to Paris. As the title says, it's a basic hotel in the tradition of the Best Western style of accommodation.

Check-in was fast and fuss free. Rooms are clean and spacious enough with beds for three, although it could feel cramped if you had three adults staying in the one room. Internet was reasonable, and the maintenance looked to be in good order.

Breakfast was OK with a good selection of cooked and continental foods, but nothing to write home about.

In summary, it's a basic three star motel that fits well with the value for money basic accommodation that Best Western is known for.

Stayed with my family (2 adults and 2 young children). We had a large room with the adults on a mezzanine and children on a sofa bed below. We found the room more than adequate for a one night stop. The breakfast was very good – lots of choice and tasty. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is secure – both the pedestrian entrance and vehicle entrance are controlled by PIN numbers so had no worries about leaving our car full of holiday luggage overnight.
