We stayed at this hotel on the night of 30/05/2014. We hadn't booked ahead and we were offered a choice of two rooms. The one we chose was the smaller but lighter of the two. We found that the hanging space for our coats was in the way of our suitcase and the storage space for our suitcase interfered with walking round the bed - not very cleverly thought out. One of the lights in the bathroom was not working, one of the hooks was off the net curtain and worst of all, in the morning the door entry card that was used for the electrics was faulty and the lights stopped working - very inconvenient if you are in the toilet! The air conditioning/heating didn't appear to work at all.
When we complained about the problem with the door entry card the receptionist was offhand, didn't apologise and just presented us with a bill. It seems a pity that the hotel staff are not trained properly as the building and the décor were excellent.

Room Tip: If I was visiting St Brieuc again I wouldn't choose this hotel.

For a first visit in Saint Brieuc, my wife and I spent an evening at Hotel Edgar, conveniently located in the city center. We had booked a large suite. The suite had a trendy - neutral, soft decor and a well appointed bathroom.
For practicality, the hotel has a restaurant; and we enjoyed a nice, quick and easy lunch.
The hotel owners were very friendly and helpful.
This is a very nice family owned hotel offering great value.
The Edgar Hotel is definitely an address to remember.

After an indifferent hotel in St. Malo, Hotel Elizabeth, rated 3 star.
Hotel Edgar was excellent. Spacious, good rooms, and helpful staff.
Slightly difficult to locate, very close to train station.
Spacious lounge with a restaurant, and a complete bar.

This modern minimalist hotel is set just by the pedestrianised centre of St Brieuc. Lots of different types of shops as well as eating establishments are just around the corner. The hotel is comfortably laid out with a nice restaurant. Modern décor in an old shell. The large square opposite is host to a good street market twice a week. Our 2nd floor room was at the front, with good views, but it was well insulated and there was no street noise. The room as a little on the small size, but all the space was well used, and there were the usual facilities, with perhaps the only downside, a lack of coffee making in the room (The bar downstairs had to suffice). The staff were friendly and efficient, and the hotel was spotlessly clean. It is worth paying the extra to park inside the hotel perimeter.

We stayed for 2 nights in a standard double room which was a bit cramped and lacking in storage space. However the bed was comfortable, decor smart and the shower room clean and functional. Our room (110) overlooked the front courtyard and town square which was lovely. We had a most enjoyable meal in the restaurant on our first evening. Very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is smart and fresh and set within a gorgeous historic building.

We did a one night stay in February. The hotel was very stylish, modern, and in a very convenient town center location. Our very pleasant room didn't have a very good view, being at the back of hotel, but on the plus side, it was very quiet with no traffic noise. The hotel overlooked a square, which had a large Saturday morning market. The hotel has its own small car park with security gates which is good for a stop-over with a fully loaded car. We will stay again next time we are in the area.

Room Tip: Our room at the back of the hotel (112) overlooked a very unattractive roof and wall but on the plu...

A pleasant welcome at reception before being shown to our room. Room not big but pleasing to the eye bright and clean, everything we needed. Lovely comfortable bed and a good breakfast. We booked parking prior to our arrival just as well as the hotel car park only takes 6 to 8 cars. On market days if you are parked in the square you will have to get up early to move your car so the stalls can be set up. Wonderful market an amazing selection of food, nice little town wished we had booked 2 nights Would stay at Hotel Edgar again. Had a little difficulty finding the hotel because of the one way streets and pedestrian precinct. but managed at 2nd attempt. Don't be put off
