This was our first visit to ‘La Table de Breizh Café’ and this restaurant was the one we were most excited about when planning our trip. First of all, the reservation process was very pleasant and Julien was very helpful in finding a suitable date – that makes for a good start.
When entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted by Julien, who remembered our e-mail conversations, and seated at the bar with a view on both the kitchen and the stunning bay of Cancale (what a view!).
We started off with the two house cocktails. Both are based on Sake, one with peaches and the other with clementine. These were really light and perfect to start the evening. Different to what you might expect in a fine dining restaurant there were no appetizers served, but the menu started off immediately.
We took the ‘full’ menu and loved every dish. All dishes are a nice blend of local ingredients and Asian influences. The best dish (for us) was the ‘Agneau de pays / Chou Rouge’ – a real surprise.
The wine/sake pairing was excellent, and the tea a nice way to end the dinner (surprisingly again no sweets to accompany the tea). The staff did an excellent job, was very friendly and thoughtful.
