We stayed with Keycamp and the whole expereince was great. The facilties for children were excellent. The local beach was nice enough and bit rocky but then that was great for rock pooling. The only problem with the beach was when the wind changed direction and it became covered with seaweed. The beach in Benodet itself was excellent (no seaweed as they cleared it away) and only 10 -15 min walk (5 mins on the bikes).
The town itself was lovely and not touristy. The local market on Mondays is well worth a visit.

We had a fantastic time with our 1 week stay at La Pointe St Gilles, Benedot; with 2 young boys (18months & 3yrs)
Accommodation: We stayed in a Villanova (with decking) mobile home. This had 1 double bedroom (quite a sung fit!), 1 twin bedroom (this has 2 single beds, however, we booked a cot for our younger son and this fitted in the room with ease) The beds were very comfy, however the pillows were wafer thin! The dining/living/kitchen area was comfortable. We could have done with a bit more room when the boys were playing prior to meal times when we were preparing food. (The oven door got warm and we had to keep our youngest away) The bath room had a sink, toilet and a shower. The shower was excellent; lots of hot water and a good flow rate - very impressed. We found the location of our accommodation private enough to not feel as though we were packed in, but not too far away from the main facilities. (Row N)
We arrived very early on Saturday morning (our travel paper-work said that our accommodation would not be ready until 3pm - possibly later) we checked in at the main reception and were told to contact our Keycamp representative. They told us to come back in 1 hr as our accommodation way not ready yet......we came back in 1hr and we were in by 10am! Fantastic! I can imagine that in the very high season that you may have to wait until the afternoon for the staff to prepare/clean your accommodation.
Facilities at Pointe St Gilles: The Pool area is a huge Wow! The brochure and other internet picture/reviews do not do it justice. In our opinion as good / possibly better than a CentreParks complex. I can imagine in high season it being very busy and you'd be lucky to get a sun bed (1st week Sept - no problems) However, there is plenty of space around the pool to lay down a towel and set up your based for the day. We had 2 days of rain, but the other days it was +20degC and sunny - lovely!
There is a small shop on site that sells all you daily essentials. (Bread, milk etc...) Carfour (supermarket) is about 5 mins drive away for every thing else.
Getting there; We travelled from Plymouth to Roscoff on the over night Brittany Ferry. (11.00pm depart - 7.00am arrival) We booked a 4 berth outside cabin. The ferry was built is 2009 and was very very nice. On the outbound trip we felt cheated as we didn't get chance to look around the ship (there is a lot to see and do, we just went to bed) on the return journey (8.30am depart) we booked a cabin again - this gave us a place to leave all our belongings and the boys could have a sleep.
Overall: We had a great time. This was the 1st time we have been on a camping holiday to Brittany and we would certainly rebook for next year. We booked with KeyCamp but there are various holiday companies that operate at this site. We could see any difference between any of them??

Went to camping st gilles august 2010. Accomodation was a maxi tent. The site was fine , good amenities but the maxi tent didnt suit! the weather was mixed and rained in our tent, also we had visitors (mice) which ate our food and did their business on our plates! This ended up costing us more as we ate out more than expected!
Site was good, pool excellent for kids with a couple of waterchutes .Beach was very rocky and not very relaxing, decent beach was a 15 min walk away. Supermarket at the site sold basic resources .
Baden says..
Take away was pretty good though our family didnt really like the burgers. Benodet was a bit of a walk away, restaurant food we thought food would be very complex but turns out most restaraunts sold pizzas mainly. All in all we had a very good holiday very enjoyable. Kids enjoyed the on site facilities and Louis (6yrs) says the grabber is SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Woody says (34 yrs) france was nice but weather a bit hit / miss and expensive to eat out.

Site 8/10. Benodet. 7/10

Best family holiday we have ever had! Benodet beach is beautiful and highly recommend a trip to the fort in nearby Concarneau and a wander round the streets of Quimper! We booked with keycamp and sailed with brittany ferries- both great companies from our experience on this trip! Definitely book a cabin on the ferry if you have small kids no matter what time of day you go! This break is not for you if you like intense holiday reps and cheesey cabaret entertainment- the reps are there to sort any probs you have- they do this well but they are not pestering you all the time! And there is a bit of light entertainment in the evenings. Do not use the site shop as very dear- there is a Carrefour supermarket nearby which is brill! We loved this holiday and will definitely be going back!!

Just stayed at Camping Pointe St. Gilles (22-29/8/2010) via Matthew holidays in one of the mobile homes and having stayed at other sites whilst touring I'm sure you'll find a lot better if you keep searching.

On the positives, the location is very good with a short stroll down to the beach and town at Benodet, although there is a much nicer and quieter beach at Kemper near Mousterlin if you drive 10 mins from campsite.

Pool complex is the main redeeming feature of the site which is very popular though as per other reviews, the 'bridges' over the pool sections are very dicey and there is never enough sunloungers - something so simple for the site management to sort out but seem to have failed to do.

Mobile home we stayed in (G12) was very basic, particularly kitchen equipment, so be sure to pack stuff if you think you'll be doing a lot of cooking/bbq yourself - or get ready to hit the Carrefour in Benodet to stock up (avoid the site shop which apart from the daily baguette/croissant run is completely overpriced).

Finally it still fails to amaze me the number of holiday locations who try to charge for WiFi use which costs the site management peanuts to operate - at this site they wanted 5 euros for 30 mins connectivity (only available near the pool) - scandalous - this should be as free as tapwater....

Good luck if you choose to go, if the weather is excellent then many of the niggles I've highlighted won't matter, but if you've time to research other sites then I think you'll find better options.

Cheers.

We booked our 10 night stay with Euro camp and were looking forward to taking our 4 children away.We took the ferry from Roscoff and only took 1hr 45 to get to Benodet which is a bonus,. However on arrival at site we were told by reception to go to Eurocamp mobile where we would be told where our pitch was situated. After waiting at the mobile for 10 mins the young rep arrived and we followed her to our pitch. She basically told us that all the facilities were back near reception......then she vanished! What greeted us was a bit of a shock as the tents look rather different to the websites pictures. For a start the area around the tent looked shabby and unkempt and hardly had any grass....just dust, the tent itself looked filthy on the outside and worse inside......we had asked for a highchair for our 8 month old son....not a problem but it was filthy with left over food on the tray and obviously hadnt been cleaned for quite some time. We then went to put up the travel cot.....broken....we were really dissapointed at this point. The next thing we noticed was that the inside of the tent did not appear to have been cleaned. The 20 year old looking ground sheet was filthy and had not been cleaned at all. The fridge had not been cleaned and had dirty hand prints all over it.The mattresses were ripped and looked filthy too. At this point we had been in the tent for about 2 mins and my partner went to complain. The rep came back and said oh no i'll get it cleaned for you....2 mins later she reappeared with her colleague and they spent 10 mins 'cleaning' it. They said they couldnt take any responsibility for the cleaning!! Upon entering the tent again we had to spend another 10 mins cleaning what they couldn't be bothered to do. These reps are just youngsters who to me havnt got a clue on how to do their job.Ther are not bothered and no one seems to be in charge. The music coming from the area where all the reps camped went on until the early hours of the morning.....glad we were far enough away from them not to be disturbed. We also had to ask for the baby bath which we had booked. Basically the list goes on......I wouldnt book another holiday through Euro camp for these reasons. Only good points were the pools.....kept the kids enterntained for hours. Very slippy in places though and many people including myself slipped over when only walking slow. That needs sorting before someone breaks their neck. Takeaway food gross....cost a fortune too....stay clear....pool side bar a rip off......8euro for 2 coffees 1 lemonade and couple of 20p lollies. The best thing about our holiday was the fact that we met some lovely people and the kids enjoyed playing with the friends they had made. Sort out the issues Euro Camp as not good enough for the money!!
