Les Chambres du Glacier

Stayed here for two nights.
The hotel is right in the middle of Sarlat in the Place de Liberte - you do not get better than this.
The place is pedestrianised and in the medieval city. Rooms overlook the beautiful place and are huge with large bathrooms.
Breakfast is lovely - brilliant croissants, lots of bread, jam, fruit juice, fruit and hot drinks for 7 euros.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Did not ask for a deposit which is good if you dont live in France and therefore dont have access to french cheques.
I would absolutely definitely stay here again if I came back.
The only thing to bear in mind is parking - you have to park just on the outside of the old city but there is ample parking a short 180 m walk away - we didn't have a problem at all.
Visited in May.
No hesitation in recommending this accommodation at all - try it you will love it.

Room Tip: We had room No 1. It was me and my two elderly parents. There was a double bed and two single bed...

Staying in this B&B was like something taken out of a movie. The rooms are located on the top two floors of a charming 18th century building right on Sarlat's main square. The street level houses the owner's cafe where one takes breakfast.

The rooms are sparsely decorated, but are huge, clean, with hardwood floors and artistic french doors that overlook the plaza. The bathroom is enormous, with two sinks, and commode separate from the shower area.

The plaza hosts the farmer's market on Saturdays so the room maybe a bit noisy early on Saturdays during preparations for the event. On the other hand, having the opportunity to gaze at and photograph all the activity from your own window is magical.

Parking can be a problem as it is very limited. The medieval city has several parking lots not too far from the plaza. Parking close to the accommodations may present a challenge during high season.

The owner and staff at the cafe are extremely friendly and very accommodating. EVen with paying for breakfast, this locale presents great value.

We got a nice, charming and huge room with a balcony to the main square. It is located on a historic building right in the heart of Sarlat-la-Caneda). We got the room late in the evening, without reservation and the staff was really helpful.

We had the pleasure, privilege, and joy to spend a week at Les Chambres du Glacier. We loved our stay and didn't want to leave. Our friends had the adjoining room and were equally delighted! To look out on the wonderful square (day and night...but especially on market day) was enchanting! The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and well furnished. Filo and Carlos (our hostess and host) are hard-working, friendly, enthusiastic, helpful, and genuine friends! We hiked in the Dordogne and looked forward to returning to our "home" each evening. The food was so excellent in the restaurant that we ate there EVERY night (though Sarlat offers many restaurants). We figured that we couldn't find better food than we were already tasting, so we enjoyed their hospitality morning and night! What a joy! WE SHALL RETURN!

we arrived in the rain with no advance reservation but M.Costa was charming and we had a great and large room overlooking the square with a good shower and bathroom. Breakfast was very good and taken outside in their restaurant below. We felt right in the centre of things and in fact stayed an extra night. It was terrific to be a tourist yet watching everything going on from above. Slightly noisy with the market setting up but very atmospheric and we'd certainly recommend it.

Really enjoyed our time in this town and was very pleased with our accommodations! Stayed for four nights in July with my boyfriend and another couple. We had room #1, which had a double bed and two single beds. The room was very spacious, hardwood floors, large balcony doors opening up to the main square. The washroom is exceptionally large with two sinks and a separate door for the toilet. The balcony provided fantastic people watching and for the other evening entertainment that goes on every night in the summer.

The owner was very helpful and sweet, we managed to communicate with our limited French and he always seemed to be around to help. The rooms are right above the cafe, which didn't bother us at all.

In the summer however, there are many bands and festivals happening around the square that can go on until midnight. If you're an early sleeper, this place would be quite noisy in the summer. Also, it did sound like there were street cleaners that started up early in the morning.

Aside from the noise issues, I would highly recommend this gem - for the price, location and service .. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We stayed in Sarlat with my boyfriend for 2 nights last July. Being from the region myself, I knew Sarlat already but it was his first time there, so I thought we'd stay in this beautiful town for a couple of nights. However, this was part of a 3-week trip, so i wanted to keep the budget down, hence the choice of the Glacier.
Boy was I in for a treat! I would never have thought that we would have such a beautiful room for the price we paid, it was HUGE, with a beautifully renovated bathroom, and a small balcony overlooking the market place and all the beautiful buildings of Sarlat.
One downside is the potential noise, but things are quite calm after 10pm, and apart from market days it is quite calm until 10 or so, and I found the noise on the market days to just add to the atmosphere!
The owners are adorable, they even sent someone to help us as we couldn't find our way to the hotel (the hotel is in a pedestrian area), and breakfast was amazing, I like to have a good breakfast in the morning, but even I couldn't finish it with all the nice croissant, fresh baguette, and fruits that they were offering.
Actually, it was so nice that my beloved didn't want me to write a review so we could keep the address to ourselves, but the DaCostas are so nice, I think they deserve it!
