Hotel Montaigne was a great little family run hotel, perfect for my one day stay in Sarlat. It is located just outside of the old city next to a parking lot. But Sarlat is so small that in 10 minute you would have walked across the entire town, so distance was not an issue. Except the last day when I had to trek back to the train station which is a good 15 min. walk downhill (with luggage that wasn't so pleasant).
The owner of the hotel was very helpful and spoke excellent English.
The room was decent size with a large queen size bed (very unusual in Europe). Furniture and furnishing weren't 5 stars, but then again neither was the price. There was free Wifi throughout the hotel, which was very nice.
The breakfast was a standard affair at 8 Euros buffet with cheese, yogurt, rolls, cold cuts, fruits, and coffee/tea/juice. Sure you could probably do the same at a restaurant, but it was easy and really not that expensive.
If I were to be in Sarlat again, Hotel Montaigne would definitely somewhere I would stay again.More
