“Lovely place to wander, shop, eat, people watch over a glass of wine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

During our recent visit to the Dordogne, Sarlat became a firm favourite. It has a wonderfully preserved medieval centre, which is traffic free and quite charming. Lovely central square, which has bars and restaurants where you can while a way an idle hour sipping something chilled and white, chat and people watch to your hearts' content. The world just slows right down. There are some excellent shops and a large church, which has been converted into a wonderful covered market full of excellent produce, where I would happily shop every week if I could.

It's not to be missed on any visit to the region - a real gem.

“Great Market in a beautiful Medieval City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

Lots of variety from fruit, veg, meat, charcuterie, foie gras , cheeses, chocolate, nuts, clothes and souvenirs. This city is alive day and night. A great place to visit in a very scenic region of France. Sit outside and have a drink and watch the world go by!

We try to visit this Saturday market when in the area. It is always busy, and offers a wide range of products.

“Busy it is”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Not more special than a lot of French markets, specially in Dordogne-area. But it is crowded. Very very crowded. Why? I do not know.
Please go somewhere else for much more atmosphere and less commercial restaurants.
