One of the pleasures of Sarlat is that street crime is non existent .
However there was one blight and that was a couple of traders who sold cheese at exorbitant prices. They would aggresively offer tourist slivers of cheese and knowing that most didn't speak French, hook them into buying slabs of cheese in excess of 20 euros.
They were observed undercover by the Authorities and now the Mayor has banned them from the market which has re-established the fine reputation of the market where locals and tourists alike can be assured of honest pricing and value in a relaxed atmosphere.
