We decided that we would go on this attraction without realising how amazing it would be. If you go straight to the old Sainte Marie Church ( there's an indoor market in the church part) you can select a time to go up on the lift and pay by credit card. There are to members of staff on; one to assist in ticket purchase (painless) and one to be your guide. The guide and ticket sales person speak very good English and take it in turns to do each other job.
The attraction is an open-topped, glass-walled elevator which goes up about 150 feet in the air, initially within the bell tower of the church, and then a little way past, giving fantastic 360 degree bird eye views of the mediaeval town of Sarlat. Descriptions of landmarks and a brief history of Sarlat are given by your guide.
Apparently the lift is of a type unique in Europe and designed by a world famous architect (Jon Nouvelle).
Incomparable views, and a bargain at €5 per adulte (our children were free!)
