We booked this place quite late on (our first choice was full). I found the online booking a bit unclear but the staff were very helpful and responded asap to all my queries.
Taking a caravan to France is not easy and the route to the site once off the motorway is not particularly helpful (the site recommend you to drive through the main town of Sarlat (not easy on market day!!) so plan your route carefully if towing.
The welcome at reception was great and unfussy. We were shown straight to our pitch (close to all the amenities) with water and electric connections very close. The only downside was that a cow field adjoins the site and the cows come up to your pitch (by the fence). The cows are fine but the smell is not great. The shower blocks were really good but the toilet blocks could be better (with separate blocks for male/female!).
The pool is the big draw here but even though it is a good size, it does get very busy and the chance of having a good swim is pretty hard (even if you get there first thing, there is water aerobics so there is never a chance to get the pool to yourselves and after that you need to avoid jumpers and bombers). But if you love jumping and bombing then you'll be very happy. They could do with more sunbeds but there is limited space for this. We took our own chairs or just sat on our towels if there were not enough sunbeds. Some large groups/families hog them for the day though!
The reception area organise local activities and trips so we booked a canoe trip and a gabare boat trip. The canoe trips are excellent (the site arrange transport but we drove ourselves).
We had a really good time here and the vibe is very chilled out and friendly. The evening entertainment is mostly aimed at the children.
We took our bikes, which was fine for the children, but the site doesn't really have the space for cycling or running as it just has space for pitches and most of these are up a steep hill. The site is off a very fast main road which is not suitable for a family bike ride. Thrill-seekers may disagree.
The site has a shop for essentials but there are many local supermarkets and shops. The pretty town of Sarlat is very close and is a shopper's heaven.
The site has wifi but you have to pay for this and it appears to have flooded the site so that you need to be 2 miles up the main road before you will get any service on your own device.
We didn't use the restaurant but we did get take-aways, the pizzas being good but the chicken (order the day before) was not enjoyed by those who had it.
We may return to this site but would probably try our first choice a bit earlier next time.
