Manoir Petit Meysset
Reviewed April 13, 2013

This wonderful country manoir on lovely grounds on the fringe of the Old City of Sarlat is homely & comfortable, with beautiful terraces & a kitchenette if one wants to prepare simple meals with the abundance of wonderful produce around. As there are only four guestrooms & ample grounds, there is good privacy.

There are plenty to explore within a 40 minute radius from this property: beautiful villages, prehistoric caves, old chateaux, medieval ruins, majestic gardens........ There are many good restaurants & bistros nearby, in or outside of Sarlat. A huge supermarket is only a 3 minute drive away.

The hosts Suzette & Tony & their manageress Marianna are all very lovely people. We would recommend highly & will definitely return.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely. The Terrace Room & The Victor Hugo are elegant while The Voltaire is brigh...

The Manoir Petit Meysset is a wonderful place.
Sarlat la Caneda and the surrounding area is a must-visit place of France, full of chateaus, medieval remains, prehistoric caves, and excellent food and wine.
The house is beautiful, with a large garden and is really nicely decorated and restored. There is plenty of parking space (in our case in a very convenient location just out of our room's door).
Our room was absolutely perfect, really charming. Full of little details and really comfortable. The bathroom is new and little, with a good shower and then many little details.
The owner is a very nice woman, kind, helpful and fun. She gave us very good food recommendations.
There's free wifi, the coverage is not perfect and can be slow, but it doesn't matter because in the atmosphere of the house, you are not in a hurry.
The breakfast is served in a really nice room, and all the plates and cups are wonderful. It is not a buffet breakfast and it is a bit slower than the usual, but again, that sums up.
It was a very good experience.

Once you get there it's paradise. And part of its charm and peace comes from its quiet and private location with beautiful grounds.
No food other than breakfast but it isn't far from the lovely array of restaurants in Sarlat.
A wonderful old building expensively brought up to date. Lots of space and comfort.
Terrific breakfast and charming people.
If you've been there once, you will want to return.
I was there in horrendous weather ut it was still such a highlight

Well appointed, beautifully renovated manor house with very helpful hosts. An easy walk into town, and convenient to all the local sites. Breakfast was sufficient for us both, with some accommodation made for my gluten allergies and my vegetarian companion.

A friend booked us in to the Manoir for an all too short visit to Sarlat. The beautifully restored Manoir is situated in delightful grounds and I totally agree with other reviewers' comments about the unbelievable value for money. The rooms are furnished stylishly, and to an incredibly high standard, with such care and attention to detail. Comfortable beds, lovely linen, soft, fluffy towels, a superb shower room and views to die for made the whole experience so perfect. The hosts, including Pluto and Louis, were warm and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing; delicious croissants, toasted brioche, fruits, cheeses, a selection of cold meats and creamy yogurts. I really cannot speak highly enough of Le Petit Manoir and hope to return in the very near future. Thank you for an incredible experience and very best wishes for the future . Elizabeth and Mac

I selfishly hesitated to write this review because I would love for Manoir Petit Meysset to remain the pristine, hidden gem that it now is, and for it to be easy to make a reservation when we want to return! In gratitude to Sue and Tony - a gracious, warm-hearted Australian couple adventurous enough to open a B&B in the heart of France - however, I must add my commendations to those of other reviewers.

The Manoir is perfect - at once comfortable and luxurious, peaceful and yet filled with Sue's infectious laugh, and situated at a pleasant walk from medieval Sarlat. My husband and I spent five nights in a vast, high-ceilinged, upper-floor, corner room, illuminated by two enormous windows and elegantly strewn with items from our hosts' enormous collection of antiques and exotic furnishings. The bed was beyond comfortable. The bathroom was clean, large, functional and modern. The grounds offer myriad pleasant seating areas, from the wide, stone-railed breakfast terrace where we enjoyed copious, multi-course breakfasts of high-quality local products (try Marina's green plum jam - it will change your life), to the tree-shaded table behind the Manoir where we shared a late afternoon picnic. Thanks to the barbeque grill and guest kitchen, we prepared light dinners with local produce and spent a few evenings at the property as well. I'd write that we felt quite at home - but our home is not so lovely!

I have no quibbles or complaints, and as my husband will tell you, I am difficult to please. Stay here. It will be a highlight of your trip.

Room Tip: We stayed in Voltaire - loved it; highly recommended; probably the most private room on the property...

We stayed here with some friends, unfortunately for only one night, en route to Bordeaux. A fantastic welcome from Tony and Suzette, nothing is too much trouble and it was like staying with old friends. The house is beautiful and so comfortably furnished. A nice touch was the wine left in our room which we enjoyed on the terrace in the evening sun. Two amazing dogs completed the picture. We'll be back.!
